Sexual Hypocrisy, Law Enforcement & the InterNET
Thanks for a very interesting and thoughtful article that addressed current events, came up with new approaches, and put it all together neatly in one, entertaining article. My view on those folks who would employ our law enforcement authorities to charge and convict individual InterNET users, is somewhat different. I see these forceful, legal ...

How 'bout something fun?
I don't have job screaming on TV. In fact, since being downsized at the end of 2006, I've been a struggling freelancer. As a self-promotion gimmick, I'm in a contest for FREE Lasik surgery that ends this Saturday, May 17th. I actually really need the Lasik, too. It's difficult for me to see WITH my glasses. However, I'm soooooo far behind in ...

Material & Writers Wanted
Slate is, so hurting, to run such a filler! My Tide has less filler than the ''hip'' letter referencing 'Obama'. I would suggest adding a classifieds to ''Slate'' and do letter auditions for feature writers.

WRITERS vs. THE MAN / ON STRIKE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfeObquD9y8 Directors Reach Deal With Hollywood Studios / THE MAN wants to isolate the writers so they can put the burden of economic slowdown squarely on their shoulders in a divide & conquer fashion. Their putdown line of choice is to tag them as snotty retarded privileged adolescents lost into World of ...

Risks and Writing
I have to disagree with Mr. Lewis about writers and risk-taking these days. He of all people should know that writers do, in fact, take risks, but publishers and agents are far less willing to do so. There's a whole lot of risk-taking that's not hitting the book stands but is instead languishing semi-invisible in small presses or deep in dark ...

Does Wes Anderson have a right to exist?
Mr. Weiner has decided he should assault Wes Anderson as an ''obnoxious'' preppie on the basis of his race, and his cultural identity alone. This criticism stands outside his later criticism of Anderson's films. It's ad hominem. It's aimed square at who Anderson is. What I want to know is why Anderson's person and ouvre exists in a ...

Writer sabotages own work
In this article, the writer has sabotaged his own work. While there is plenty of room for arguments about this thing and that, what is written is somewhat poorly formed and seems to constitute more of a rant. Additionally, the writer should have stuck to areas and arguments he has a better understanding of. For instance, his critique of the ...

Remembering Grace
This was a fascinating article to read, and I have to acknowledge the validity of your own reactions and those of your students to the writings of Grace Paley. Still, I was amazed at the adjectives you have used to describe her. They are the last words I would have used for the woman who was my writing teacher at Sarah Lawrence College in the ...
