Live is the best way to hear Our Girl, but this CD comes the closest to capturing the Melinda we all know and luv! I want to invite all ...

Need Explainer on Idol & song arrangments
The David Cook controversy made me realized that I need someone to explain how contestant songs are arranged and who is arranging them. Up until now, I always thought contestants were taking existing arrangments and tweaking them to suit their voice and their styles. The most arranging I thought any contestant engaged in was editing a song down ...

Song obsessions

Amelia and false hopes
First topic -- I've always obsessed on songs, but I have come to believe that is counterproductive to the enjoyment of music. The minute you think that the act of listening is bound up with the selection and repetition of a few great songs ...

Sometimes can't get enough of "Queen Jane Approximately"
Listen to it over and over, usually while getting drunker and drunker. Other looping faves: Neil Young's ''Powerderfinger,'' Eminem's ''Without Me,'' Missing Persons' ''Destination Unknown.'' Went on a John Denver ''Annie's Song'' jag last summer. Not making any of this up.
