We're At War!!
WE ARE A NATION AT WAR America lost the bid for the Olympics because she had one quite recently in terms of Olympiads past. No other nation in the world has hosted as many Summer Olympics as we already have. 1996 was just 3 Olympiads (12 years ago!) How greedy and arrogant can we get. In hindsight, Obama had NO chance of persuading the vote to go ...

Slate, Dragaon Slayer of CW! vs. Chicago nerds!
Slate, oh Slate, fierce critic of the “MSM!” Dragon slayer of Conventional Wisdom! Champion of journalistic integrity! Of what do you speak?Thank god for the ‘nerds’ of journalism. People like Ben Joravsky and Tom Tresser still believe in and practice investigative journalism. They ask hard questions. They even expect ...

O, Canada!
As a person living and breathing the Olympics in Whistler, BC (2 hours north of Vancouver) I may have another perspective on the Women's Ski Jumping controversy that no one seems willing to bring up. I believe these women are going after the wrong issue. Women's ski jumping didn't make the IOC standards of 'sport' because there are too few ...

lung capacity
I would think that everyone's reaction to marijuana would be different regardless of lung capacity. Just like some people can get drunk on one drink. It's more of a brain capacity.

Phelps and marijuana
What does Phelps care? Really? He's got more than enough to party for the rest of his life.

An article like this should mention Dick Fosbury
Otherwise, it could flop. It would also be interesting to read a story about the legendary leaping ability of the great white American Buffalo who can reach nearly the same height as Mr. Fosbury did in his Olympian victory. http://www.ask.com/web?q=how+high+can+bison+jump%3F&qsrc=0&o=0&l=dir

Phelps 100 fly
I agree with William ''Mr. Olympic Crankypants'' Saletan for the most part here. Everyone I watched the replays of the 100 fly with seemed brainwashed by the commentators who kept saying ''clearly Phelps out-touched Cavic.'' The replays are not clear at all, no matter the resolution or playback speed. But I think Saletan makes a big assumption ...

underage Chinese Olympic contestants
Not only does China know that some of it's Olympic contestants were underage; it doesn't care if everyone knows. Cheating and stealing are part of the economic miracle.
