  • BUY THE POPPY CROP...or the enclave strategy will fail

Mr. Kaplan,Thank you for your article on an enclave strategy for Afghanistan. I am convinced that this is the most prudent course. I can only hope (probably in vain) that the false choice offered by the neocons on one hand and my weary left on the other... does not dominate the MSM's narrative. Good luck. You are up against a meme that is ...

  • The insanity of the enclave strategy

The best part of this is the nice thumbnail description of counterinsurgency: ''The principle of counterinsurgency is to focus much more on protecting the population than on chasing and killing terrorist-insur...gents. The theory is that if NATO and Afghan forces can provide security (and thusfacilitate the supply of basic services), the Afghan ...

It will be interesting to see how much Obama will pour into Afghanistan, and Pakistan and after that Africa. How many more trillions will he straddle the dollar with?

  • Recent US led Afghan Airstrike Violate International Law

International Law is explicit about civilian protection, including but not limited to Article 51, 52 and 57 of Protocol 1 of the 1949 Geneva Conventions. • Obama Governs & Campaigns Like Lyndon Johnson. Great & Risky

What is Obama's goal for his Presidency? -- go long. Other than his Camelot appearances with the First Lady, Obama has spent almost every news cycle announcing programs or ideas of substance. He has not let the deficit stall his recovery plan, although the price tag must have given him great apprehension. He has boldly removed those policies ...

  • Afghanistan and Pakistan

Ultimately we will end up sending troops to both Afghanistan and Pakistan. Their prescence will be dictated by monetary aid.

  • surprise visit to Iraq

This suprise visit was a good move on Obamas part. Now our troops and the people of Iraq know what to expect.

  • Change-o-meter

Obama is great with his slow, pensive, delightful rhetoric. But it will be only American lives he will be spending in Afghanistan.

  • Who said, "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer"

I agree that during the campaign she was remarkably racist and sexist. Both are incredibly manipulative. She is fantasic at what she does though, and brilliant. I think a lot of the abuse they ground through from the a holes of the GOP all those years made them who they are. They had to adopt an ''if you can't beat em, join em.'' I do love them ...
