another annoying Blitzer tic - "Stand By..."
Between ''Watching closely'' and ''Stand by'', I can't stand watching Blitzer - I can't see how CNN decided to make him lead anchor. He also frequently takes jerky breaths in mid-phrase/sentence - clearly he's reading a prompter and has no sense of what he is actually saying. He was tolerable as Pentagon correspondent, but he still clearly looks ...

journalism is not the same as its media
fletc3her is spot on.As on online news editor, formerly with a print operation (got out when I saw that industry writing on the wall), it's been interesting to see the continual decline of newspapers. Papers belittle the bloggers and cry that there will be no 'real' journalism left, but the fact is most newspapers are not fully adapting and ...

Journalists are the new moderators
I appreciate democracy as much as, well I guess, most everyone that lives in one. I do think that its super-concept is being dangerously taken out of context by the advent of the Internet. To co-exist assumes that every man is created equal. Yet though we may be shaped equally in the eyes of your favorite deity, a blacksmith is not a politician ...

I Feel For Cheney
I don’t want to go back to the past, mistakes can be made and only the Pope is infallible. And just as someone can be ‘serially’ correct in the past he is not bound to be correct all the time in the future. The same logic applies in inverse to Cheney. But your belief is misplaced as already the portions of the reports released have “undercut” ...

I got’cher Prediction Right Here:
I’ll make a grass roots prediction: In the near future, bloggers will move from commenting on and linking to the news and start going out and getting their own content. Savvy bloggers will create a nationwide ( and then soon after a worldwide) network of cottage-industry independent Reporter/Bloggers. News will be blogged in ...

The ONLY good reason to keep newspapers around.
I work for the newspaper industry. Each and every day I go to work and the news is pretty much the same. The only thing I read anymore is the comics; although some of them do not belong on the comics page (Doonesbury, Mary Worth, Brenda Starr) these never make anyone laugh. I know this industry is going under and I am in search of a different ...

CNBC Financial Advice Is Worth Every Penny Paid for It
The righteous indignation spilling out against CNBC just strikes me as odd. Blaming these guys for the current dip in the economy would be like blaming CNN for the invasion of Iraq. It is a cable channel listed deep in your on screen guide or channel list. It exists because it can, because NBC/Universal can afford to spawn dozens of special ...

Newspapers must stop talking and start listening
Great synopsis on newspapers' attempts at modernizing! Personally, I haven't really seen a substantial news brand ask me (or their readers) how they should branch out on the web. There's alot of possibilities out there, but the answer most likely lies in at least several different revenue streams. ...
