  • recruitment goals

Fishy or not the Army is going to have a tougher time recruiting next year. The recovery is just beginning and no one in their right mind wants to go to Afghanistan.

  • Facile

Well, that's a very good piece, ending with a facile, throw-away parenthetical lacking in any meaningful analysis. It rather undercuts and distracts from an otherwise highly informative, and accurate, piece. Mr. Kaplan is probably correct insofar as the F-22 represents an over-priced weapon system of which we do not need any more. His analysis ...

  • Re: Fred Kaplan's Conventional Thinking

TJA:My friend, you are the one who needs to educate yourself. Iran sits on the Straight of Hormuz which is the transit point for the majority of the world's oil. A few speedboats and shore based silk worm missles are all it would take to close this critical path to all oil traffic. THAT is what poses a threat to the US and the world. ...
