Noon, the first day of Summer...
And here in Missoula, it's a balmy 57 degrees. I think the snow level's supposed to drop to 5K feet tonight.

I just dropped my spinners out the window.
i wonder if tartuffe heard them. i didn't light the firecrackers, because there is a cop over behind the library... maybe tonight during the ball... http://missoulian.com/articles/2009/01/20/news/local/news04.txt

no WAY.
I must protest. You haven't spent much time on the hi-line, have ya? Folks in Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, and I'm guessing most of interior Canada might beg to differ with ya there, son. Now these last 5 to 10 years have been gettin' pretty warm...but truly...cold snaps with daytime highs below zero are common enough to these parts in ...

too late.
i had breakfast at finnegan's...wanted to watch the ducks dodging the ice floe...(their idea of flying south is flying over the roof to this side of the building...) the best side to sit on is the northern side...more wildlife...and you don't have to watch traffic on broadway.... the winds here near the hellgate are much brisker than reported ...

it's obvious
why Missoula is regarded as the Banana Belt of Montana...while most of the state is really, awesomely, bitterly cold, we're coming in at a balmy 5 below with wind chills between 30 and 40 below... <link> [i still remember january of 89...windchills 92B...chi-leeeee.]

Squirrel and Robin Pie?
You got a recipe for dat? Hunt'ns real good around here for squirrels...and I'm sure Starlings would make an adequate substitute for Robin. (no Robins here till next Spring) I'd definitely blog a decent recipe for Squirrel and Starling Pie.
