Buckley: Never Boring
I seldom agreed with Buckley, though I sometimes did. I think he was a principled fellow, someone who tried to be true to his core beliefs. Still, he was often wrong (e.g., civil rights, perhaps his most egregious failing, intellectually). On the other hand, he was never boring and he brought a charming civility to debate. The issue, to me, is not Ali's having lied or her position ...

Cowardice and Moral Relativism
The Dutch are rightly lauded for their history of tolerance. However, when taken to an extreme, tolerance can produce a sort of moral relativism, one that engenders complacency in the face of evil. In this case, it is the evil of Islamic fanatics who would have the heads (amongst other body parts) of non-believers. I find it very disheartening ...

Ayaan Hirsi Ali
Christopher Hitchens is absolutely right. To my mind, our country should make this heroic freedom-fighter a citizen and offer the necessary protection so that she can continue speaking out as a beacon of enlightenment throughout the world. I would be very proud if she were a member of our own country's legislature, and given the opportunity, I'd ...
