It was fun to watch the White House Press at Obama's first
They seemed stunned at the change. I recall them almost slack-jawed when Obama actually asked a Ms. Sweet what happened to her broken arm. They were so used to Bush and his arrogant/alcoholic namecalling and such. Press conferences were indeed a rare occasion, weren't they? Especially civil and informative ones.

The Big Bailout...Ha!
There is no need for a bailout of the bank when we can bail them out through tax payer spending...heres how: America has fought hard to become an independent nation and a leader in innovation, so how can we fix our current economic downtrend efficiently? Some seem to think that throwing money at the corporations who failed us is the answer…we all ...

Great Review of Some Important Books . . .
. . . BOOKS which I think all Americans need to read and consider: Making Government Work, by Fritz Hollings Torture Team: Rumsfeld's Memo and the Betrayal of American Values, by Phillipe Sands The Dark Side: The Inside Story of How the War on Terror Turned Into a War on American Ideals (Hardcover), by Jane Mayer. Terrorism and Democracy ...

Re: How did Bush turn liberals into assholes?
GreenwichJ: This is the question. I mean, liberals until now have been on the right side of history. They were fought and won minority rights, they championed human dignity and freedom of expression in dark corners of the world, and they preached non-violence. Yet so fixated have they become with damning the presidency of George W Bush that ...

Hitch, The Brits Started This Mess, Along With Reagan
Christopher Hitchens engages in breathtaking and broad stroke, decades long perspective in cataloguing the burning of world war through the 20th Century, from the beginnings of World War One through World War Two through to the conclusion of the Cold War, to the collapse of the Berlin Wall. Yet he dates this Iraqi Twin War Conflict only to 2003? ...

Oh spare me....
I'm a pretty ticked off white person. First, I'm pretty convinced that the media gains something by not letting go of racism. What will you talk about if it’s actually gone? I've studied sociology and was once told that the only true racism in our society is institutional racism. Well - it's the only racism that really costs any race a pretty ...

Democrats in Congress Failed Us All 8 Years
The Democrats and Democratic Party failed to stand up for what is right for the entire eight years of the Bush / Cheney White House misrule. They gave away our American two-party system; they gave away majority rule; they gave away our civil rights and bill of rights and civil liberties; they gave away the constitutional authority of the ...

The Consequences of Kristol-Think
William Kristol and his PNAC cronies are a driving force behind the push to war and the decision to ''reshape'' the world in a way that has had dire consequences for all of us. Their intellectual game of ''Risk'' has resulted in mass slaughter, increased instability and a shameful tarnishing of America's image. PNAC and the other Bush era ...

Why I'm an American in Exile...
On June 13th, 2007, I received a death threat from someone claiming to be a member of the US Intelligence community. What was my ''crime''? I blew the whistle on the election fraud of 2004. Why did the CIA feel threatened by this? Because I revealed how they smuggled cocaine into the US using a front company called ''Skyway Communications''. ...

Re: Rice image slide show
I think your comments are well taken. It seems a pity, however, that Slate has this image article in a lead position today. Ms. Rice's posture, costumes, and legs are NOT more important than Mr. Kaplan's commentary on the speech given by our fearless president last night.
