Problem With Newspapers: Their Content Is "Old News."
I still never go a day without reading my hometown Sacramento Bee. Sundays I never miss the New York Times. Most days I am able to read the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times and the San Francisco Chronicle. I'll keep reading them until they disappear. I'm a news junkie. When the time comes in the not too distant future when everyone has a blackberry (or its equivilant) printed newspapers will remain a fond memory. And twenty years distant from than that an odd curiosity.

The trouble with newsroom jobs is that they are specialized. A friend of mine got laid off last week from his job as a lab tech at a chemical company. It's terrible, but there are a dozen or more chemical companies within commuting distance. I'm a copy editor. If I get laid off, there's little chance I'll find anyone hiring copy editors.
