  • Hollywood wants to teach my kid to read?

Good! I learned to read with early readers and comic books. Comic books have a much more sophisticated vocabulary (scientific and historical and mythological terminology abound) than most kid's fiction and the books are much more exciting than most ''literature.''

  • This Is Absolutely Fascinating

I never even heard about anything like this before. I guess it makes sense for the governments to embrace the most lucrative, economy-boosting ventures possible over the more meager ones. I just finished reading about basic film financing on another site, but this is just eye-opening. Thanks for the insights. -K

  • Reluctantly, I agree

Although a full-fledged member of the green bandwagon who promotes green products, I have to agree with your assessment of Planet Green. I turned it on the first day it aired, hoping for evidence that environmentalism was making a successful push into the mainstream, but only lasted an hour. I turned it off after hearing a beautiful actress ...

  • Does anyone truly believe...

that Roman Polanski is an innocent victim of the California legal system? and not a child rapist? How is his crime any different than what is happening in Texas with the YFZ Ranch? I guess he did make some movies people like and he's got a lot of money. Yeah that makes him less guilty of child rape. Well at least it does in America. Why do we as ...

  • Hollywood's Film Noir About Bete Noir - Sharing the Loot

Yes, this Hollywood conflict is a Film Noir because people are going to get hurt. The outlook for a happy ending is grim, simply because those corporate folks in Hollywood are not clever enough to write it. I have dealt with plenty of my own corporate bosses at a wide variety of companies in America, to have a masterful appreciation of just how ...

  • demanded, a piece of the action

And it's a small piece at that. Compensating the creatives? That's too rich a diet for moguls and movie stars, most of who dine on the fatted calves of celebrity-journalism laid bare on red carpets of vainglory. In 2008, only the two major political parties will spend more money than AMPTP trying to get you do things that aren't in your own ...

  • Hillary bombed? Says who?

I hate it that everyone, Slate, these blogs, the NYTimes, seems to agree that Hillary did a bad job at this debate. I thought she gave remarkably clear answers and stood her ground well, given the difficulty of the questions. Will you pledge to keep Iran from getting nuclear weapons? I will pledge to do everything in my power. Do you agree with ...

  • Another reason Michael Clayton bombed

Half of grown-ups are women, and maybe they're boycotting Warner Brothers movies after Robinov's anti-women statements came to light last week.

  • The Obvious Solution to Kite Runner Trouble (to me)

I loved the book and I'm a filmmaker in Hollywood, but I want to be the first to say I think the project should be scrapped. They blew it, and need to take the fall for it. And yet, I haven't heard or read anyone making this suggestion. The arrogance of the Hollywood film industry to put foreign children at risk of their lives for the sake ...

NEWS FLASH 08-13-2007 => ''BUSH’S BRAIN'' RESIGNED! ... BUT (there and again) ....some of us whom have actually been paying attention...have known THAT ''Factoid'' for a VERY long time, now. *** but *** Out of Karl Rove’s departure, what should we really be EXPECTING to ''Change''? Hmmmmmm..... The NEXT of the endless cycle of ...
