Fair or Not - Municipal Governments Have a Long Way to Go
I think under Grutter v. Bollinger municipalities should figure something out. Whether fair or not, if the legislature does not try (at least) to enforce the Court's greater diversity rulings, we're back to the Brown v. Board problem.

Special Inaguration Gabfest?
The reason I was looking forward to this Inaguration Gabfest was because it was done in front of a live audience. The Audio and Video on SlateV did not include ANY audience questions or comments. It may have been fun for the live participants but no different for me. As an aside, could you post the most interesting questions/comments from the ...

"everybody's President"
During the Nov. 7 Gabfest Emily said something like this ''He (Obama) is everybody’s president''. Not true. For people like me, who are gay, he is not our president. Not just because he holds the standard ''separate but equal'' notion on marriage that we get from his party. But his election itself is a sign of Gay and Lesbians ...

What does the election of Obama mean for black Americans?
Why does the news media keep posing this question, and why does everyone keep answering it as asked? The election of Barack Obama is a great thing for all Americans because the most qualified candidate won. That's good for everyone----all races. Implying it is more important for black Americans than it is for all Americans ignores the disaster ...

Oliver Stone butchers Dickerson in W. (the movie)
I saw the preview of W. on the 10/9/08 episode of the Colbert Report (colbertnation.com or hulu.com). Not only did Stone cast an OLD man to play John, but he slaughtered John's words. His words. It's like slaughtering Shakespeare. The clip begins JOHN: Thank you sir. Mr. President, After 9/11, what would you say your biggest mistake would ...

Plotz 2.0
Whether the source be a plentiful fridge of 'Fresca' or the lingering effects of cold medicine, David Plotz's contribuitions were cogent, informative and engaging. Mr. Plotz was even--dare I say it?--witty and insightful. Thanks.

Thank You David Plotz
On the Sarah Palin issue I couldn't agree more and I share your disgust with this Jerry Springer Election. I would like to think the media would do their job, but I guess it's all Tabloid now. But then, I saw the Ladies on the View today. Who knew it would take Whoopi, Barbara, and Joy to call McCain on his BS. Fine job Ladies!

Age Requirement in Gymnastics...
First, I'm a fairly new listener to the podcast and generally love it (the slugfest was AWESOME - and I was totally with Emily on the Edwards thing). But, I have to disagree with Emily re the Chinese gymasts. The 16 year old age requirement is fairly new (I think for the 2000 Olympics - I'm pretty sure Nadia was 14 back in 76) and the FIG did it ...

PoliticalGabfest vs MoneyTalks
I'm a regular Political Gabfest listener and I thought the latest to be quite refreshing. I don't care whether or not you use vulgarity; What's important is whether you cover an issue properly. And you certainly did. The passion only enhanced it. (Passion is a tricky device as many talking heads use it in lieu of meaningful rhetoric but you ...
