In Oregon, where I live, people like teachers and coaches are considered ''mandatory reporters.'' This means that if they observe child abuse, such as a parent hitting a child, they must notify the police. I imagine that most states have such laws. Joe didn't just slap his son, he assaulted him. Why is it so important that Tami has friends? All things being equal, who are Eric's friends?
