Wall-E
whimsy
Regarding the Wall-E article...
''Wall-E tells us that if we don't change the way we live, we'll all get really fat and destroy the world.'' You'll find no bigger supporter of the first amendment than me. However, I think the statement above, quoted from the article is a little biased. To me, it sounds like someone who is just looking for a reason to look down on ...

Are you crazy?
''But there's little evidence that overeating causes obesity on an individual level and no real reason to think that anyone can lose a lot of weight by dieting.'' Wow... That was, well...stupid. So, there's no evidence that our lifestyles are the cause of weight gain. The follow-up sentence was even more intelligent. That children who watch TV ...

Just shows how egocentric humans are
I saw Wall - E with my kids the first weekend it came out. Sure, the sub-plot of what humans had done to the planet was a little bang-a-pot-over-the-head obvious, however, in my opinion, the real story was between the robots. If you read any science fiction at all, you will know that these kinds of stories regarding the downfall of humankind, and ...

Can a night Owl become a morning person? I did!
Oh yes. The infamous title of ''night owl''. I have been dubbed a night owl for as far back as I could remember. I have never liked getting up early in the morning, nor have I ever enjoyed getting less than eight hours of sleep in one evening. After having my son, I had tried and tried to become a morning lover but I had failed miserably. I've ...

Second-Hand Smoke
Few Points from a nurse of 8 years: In my 8 year tenure as a nurse, we have never had one patient treated, died etc. from second-hand smoke. People ARE NOT allergic to smoke. An allergic reaction is what happens when you touch poison oak. Sneezing is not an allergic reaction. Our eyes water and sting when we slice onions. It would be ...

Nicotrol Inhalers
The government is criminal for not allowing over the counter sales of Nicotrol Inhalers. They produce no smoke nor tar and only minimal nicotine which goes to the smoker alone, no one else. It is the only way I was able to quit a four pack a day habit. It annoys no one, my lungs are now clear and the house doesn't smell. Yet I still have to go ...

Physician, heal thyself
As many know, freedom is never ''free'', nor is democracy always ''democratic.'' Those who are fearful of the negative attention being paid to the current villains of the day (tobacco companies) need to only wait until the next ''bad boy'' comes along. Sometimes we need to lighten up (no pun intended). On the other hand, I have no sympathy for ...

An issue not to be ignored
Thank you for the article. The important question is probably not who benefits from burying the facts, but how much it's going to cost to fix it. I wonder if the EPA and the CDC aren't becoming like the FDA, which has recently be plagued with accusations of being in bed with Big Pharma, and of not adequately monitoring food safety. The fact is ...
