Track Palin and drug use
Really, is this necessary? Leave the kid alone. I don't know if it's true or not, but I would suspect that there would be some record or reporting of a stay in rehab. He certainly didn't weed himself off a two year OxyContin habit cold turkey. Honestly, this is ridiculous.

Re: Does drinking age cause drug use
I fully agree with Grub007. My only question is does the availability (and use) of liquor in any way influence experimentation with drugs? In other words what are the demographics for drug use?

Race, genetics, medicine--simple test
All inherited appearances would be expected to have a genetic basis. Many, many, many genes have effects that you can 'SEE'. (we call that 'phenotype', but 'SEE' is just so much more viscerally appealing). So, going back oh.... a generation or so, we've found ways to SEE genetic differences in metabolizing drugs (give a drug and SEE if it is ...

Writing accurately about Scientology...
Writing accurately about Scientology is nearly impossible. Research it on Google, and you'll find its results seeded with the busy midnight oil of a cadre of dedicated Scientology haters. That group has published personal details about Scientologists' marital upsets, financial records, and attempted to influence judges and juries by publishing ...

How long Must We Study Marijuana?
WHY ISN'T EVERYONE SCREAMING FOR LEGAL MARIJUANA? Every report says the same thing about MARIJUANA IT HAS NEVER KILLED ANYONE IN HISTORY No adult deaths, no kids have ever died from it, (not that kids should have it but it's good to know they won't die from it). Most reports say users drive with even higher safety than people that ...

Re: Which kills more? not the real issue
The amount of actual death caused by drugs is a relatively miniscule amount of the overall social, physical, psychological, moral and economic pathology caused by drug abuse and drug addiction. If ODs were the only thing bad about drug abuse, then drug abuse wouldn't really be all that bad. As a secondary point, how many shootings were ...

New Drugs are Absolutely Necessary
I'm most familiar with a disease call chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Several newish drugs have revolutionized the treatment of CLL. They are Rituxan and Campath, both monoclonal antibodies. Rituxan is about 10 years old, Campath is newer. Both have become very important blood cancer drugs. But it is true that it has taken years to ...

NO NEWS HERE!
In a WI VA Psych Unit in 2002, I roomed with a PTSD vet with ''Improved Pension'' status. He said shrinks were constantly on him to talk about his ''progress.'' This nosing he took to mean ''they'' were under some mandate to get PTSD Vets OFF improved pension, so when he sensed that's where they were going (especially new shrinks) he would tell ...

Guns & Drugs
Re S. divinorum. First, to reiterate what a lot of posts have said: Salvia is not like marijuana at all. It's a shamanistic drug, not a party drug. If someone were not prepared for it, they could be terrified (I had an out-of-body experience on it, which I found fascinating but not exactly pleasant). Like any drug, it isn't idiot-proof. I ...

Is it ethical to create bias through ethics rules?
The idea that money always taints needs to be driven out of the heads of those promoting ''ethics''. Since a very large portion of medical research is financed by private companies, most researchers have had some contact. Those who have purposely avoided contact often do so because of their own ideological biases. The drug companies are ...
