The Grown-ups
I think that while Henry Francis could be unreliable, the thing drawing he and Betty together is appearances. She looks amazing, and is obsessed with her appearance. She revels in showing off, and what others may think of her alone, in a bar, in Rome, on her husband's arm. Henry Francis is a politician, so he would benefit from her, plus I ...

Re: "evidence" of adultery
Hmmm...Maybe.But honestly I don't think that Betty has the spine nor interest in leaving Don and hving sole custody of the kids. She likes being comfortable and would not want to disrupt her pretend life. And, Betty is very vain. She loves being the trophy wife.

Grass-eating men reacting to conditions...
Judging from the comments here, Japan's grass-eating men have inner needs that have been discounted to zero. I'm not sure if divorce is as all-punishing to men in Japan as it is in the USA, but if it's even an inkling of what happens over here, it's enough of a deterrent to marriage. These young men are facing two no-win situations. First, ...

Money for Kidney
Under New York law, the Husband's claim is called ''maintenance'', similar to what was previously called alimony. A claim for maintenance, however, depends on more than just the sacrifice one spouse made to another. In fact, the main consideration is a determination of the duration and amount of money the recipient spouse will need to maintain ...

My Father had Exorcisms Performed on my Mother (Long Post)
I come out of a household of similar circumstances, and it's interesting how Prudie missed the context of this person's predicament. Her advice this week was uncharacteristically (secularly) righteous, and surprisingly wrongheaded, and failed to take into account the dependence issues that arise in families with bizarre religious beliefs, as ...

Flip the coin
By the same token, pro-choice absolutists endanger the Democratic party. By insisting that there is no problem in women chosing for abortion, and attacking anyone who suggests otherwise as some retrograde neanderthal redneck, they turn off a vast number of moderates. Most people think each abortion is deplorable. It's worth arguing about how the ...

We need to hear their stories
At the end of the article, Dahlia Lithwick writes: ''But for every Clark Rockefeller and Darren Mack, there are dozens of nonviolent fathers who believe that the mere fact of their divorce should not result in an arrangement in which they pay for the right to see their kids on alternating Sundays. If the family-court system is ever going to ...

Father Rights Trampled On.....
My husband was married very young, straight out of the Army, to a woman who is from Illinois. They struggled with the realities of marriage and divorced within 2 years, creating two of the most delightful children, ever. The divorce was long, drawn out and eclipsed the length of their marriage. The divorce was also of my husbands own will, ...
