Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor -- Says Roe Is "Settled Law"
All I need to know about today's U.S. Senate Nomination Hearing for Liberal New York City Feminist Sotomayor, is that she thinks the appalling pro-Abort ''Roe vs. Wade'' Supreme Court ''Decision'' of 1973, is ''Settled Law'' (her words.) Hispanic voters may be trending towards the Democratic Party side of the political ledger lately, and who ...

a slight improvement
Whatever crumbs of support McCain is and will be receiving before next Tuesday are simply not enough. Mostly it is a representation of voters who are not going to vote.

The Joe the Plumber Debate
On the debate, I think that all four of you missed a big part of it. Maybe you’ve been watching these guys for way to long, and you no longer see them the way an undecided, uniformed, haven’t been paying attention until now voter does (that’s not me, but I can do a reasonable imitation). I happened to listen to the first half of the debate on ...

"Health"?
Maybe I am missing something, but why hasn't there been a discussion of McCain's use of air quotes when referring to women's health? And did he really call this the extreme pro-abortionist position? I don't want to start an endless debate about abortions, but the utter contempt he showed for women's health, as if it were a gimmick and not a real ...

Please, someone, tell Sen. McCain that Breyer is not Alito
I was shocked to learn that Obama voted against Justice Breyer's appointment to the Supreme Court-- particularly since Breyer was nominated in 1994, before Obama was in public office. Senator McCain presumably meant Alito, not Breyer. But they're two different people with two very different judicial philosophies. I hadn't quite gotten over ...

Re: Best Obama strategy for the debate...
My guess is that Obama will stay on the issues, will look directly at McCain and the audience and, in general, be calm and steady.... as he's been all along. And, out of sentimental respect for McCain, I hope he manages to get through the debate without referring to the audience as his ''fellow prisoners''.

Past imperfect
In the news we see Governor Palin questioning Senator Obama’s acquaintance with William Ayers, asking what he knew about Mr. Ayers’s past, and when. I'm a little surprised that I see no one responding with what seems to me an obvious question. In the VP debate Governor Palin dismissed discussion of the recent, and indisputably relevant, ...

Say it ain't so, Gwen
Gwen Ifill is, in my humble opinion, a bright, knowledgeable, serious-minded, and thoroughly professional journalist. She has been among those I most respected, particularly among the overpampered telecast elite who are often tempted to bloviate rather than report. That said, I was disappointed by her performance as moderator of the VP debate. ...

Meaghan O'Rourke
Interesting. I disagreed with one of Meaghan's comments, only to completely agree with the next. As far as the eros factor goes, I found myself looking at Senator Biden in a whole new light...Ahem. I have to say that I think Joe Biden may have been instructed by Dahlia Lithwick of this very site on how to conduct himself on a first date with Ms., ...

Actually, Palin Reminds Me Of...
George Bush's little sister. He sure is ''folksy.'' How are people getting sucked in by this again? With her doggones, darn rights, and hecks, she sounds just like Bush. With her commitments to not blinking and when she ''these dictators who hate America and hate what we stand for, with our freedoms, our democracy, our tolerance, our respect ...
