Slow cookers that are Shabbat compliant
Can anyone tell me of a crockpot or slow cooker that one could use starting Friday morning and go automatically to ''keep warm'' for another 12-24 hours automatically? I have a Kitchenaid slow cooker that I love, but after it has reached full cooking time, it only goes to warm for a few hours. Thanks!!

The earthy approach Mr. Pollan takes to the food and the interconnected environmental issues he writes about are an almost perfect match to my own. Reading his work is ...

Re: How About Good Food?
I can't resist adding my favorite minimal refreshing cranberry relish. In a food processor with metal blade place a bag of fresh cranberries, 2 oranges quartered with skin on and with a splash of orange juice.Pulse till coarsely ground, adding a cup or more of fine white sugar to taste and a half cup of cointreau. Place in a covered container ...

Salt
I know I'm more than two years late, but Thanksgiving once again is upon us and I was looking for articles comparing different kinds of salt. I found ''Worth One's Salt'' that Slate published in April, 2005. It seems all television cooks tout kosher salt and I've always suspected that in part it's because a huge salt company is an advertiser on ...
