I Liked Ike -- Now I Like Mike - HUCKABEE, that is
I liked everything I heard about Mike Huckabee, even before he started running in earnest for his Party's Nomination to be our next U.S. President. The more I learned about Mike Huckabee, the better I liked his candidacy. Further, he is a very well-spoken and persuasive guy, with that down-to-Earth Midwestern style I always liked about ...

Presidential Pardons, Why!!
If Presidents could commute sentences instead of actually overturning the verdicts of a judge or jury then the practice might be a useful one. As it now can be screwed with by a President who does not want anyone digging deeper into shit that has been litigated, it should be changed to a Presidential Commutation, with the guilt phase removed from ...

LIBBY, NOAH & BUSH
It is a brave arguement but, one that can't be agreed to. I was actully surprised, I would've thought bush would go straigth to the Pardon. So, was justice served? Noah says yes. The $250K Fine and a Felony record is enough for Four counts of Lying to a Grand Jury. It might be okay but to satisfy it with Clinton's lie, just doesn't wash. Clinton ...

Corrections (Noah-Bush-Libby edition)
Noah's argument is riddled with errors, fallacies, and non sequiturs. Here are the five major ones: 1. Noah says that Libby ''probably didn't understand that Plame's identity was a government secret.'' In fact, in Libby's indictment, we read that: Shortly after publication of the article in The New Republic, LIBBY spoke by telephone with his ...

Noah Misses The Ark
Man, Mr. Noah's article defending the Bush commutation of Libby's deserved sentencing is a whopper! He compares apples for oranges with his analogies. Clinton lied about sex. Bush lies about more important and serious matters. Bush, Cheney and Libby et al are criminals. They lied and got us into this senseless and illegal Iraq war. What ...

"Libby probably didn't understand..."?
As an apology for Lewis Libby, this fails. Timothy Noah probably never had a security clearance. Otherwise he would know that (A) you don't discuss things that might even possibly be classified a little and (B) you don't discuss things with people who do not have ''a need to know.'' Anyone with the lowest level of clearance is briefed on this, and ...

This Was Satire, Right?
When I first read the column, I thought Chatterbox was delusional. Then, I wondered if he was being satirical. But a third reading made me realise that the man is wacked. Bill Clinton was not impeached for having sex but for lying about it. Richard Nixon was not impeached for breaking into Watergate but lying about it. Scooter Libby was not ...

Commutation is proper!
The commutation is proper, though it is a bit premature!http://osi-speaks.blogspot.com/2007/07/though-premature-bushs-commutation-of.html#links

Contrarianism for contrarianism's sake?
The ways in which Noah is wrong are hard to count, but I think I can came up with at least eight: 1. It's not ''all over.'' There's this thing called an appeal, and it is still pending. The clemency prevents the process from being completed. 2. The comparison between Libby and the average perjurer is invalid, except that what Libby did was ...
