writing about kids
yahoo
Idleness as a way of parenting.
I couldn't agree more. I run an award-winning web site for kids, Inkless Tales, at www.inklesstales.com - endorsed by the ALA, the Encyclopedia Britannica, and RIF - heavy hitters - and the site is all designed for learning - but the site is all rigorously tested first. By kids. For fun. My own kids? We have ''do-nothing'' days. Lots ...

children walking
I share Rachael and Emily's feelings on this. Back in September, there was a story on my local news channel about parents in a nearby suburb in an uproar because, in an attempt to cut costs, their school district had cut down on the number of bus stops. Apparently, the costs savings from using less fuel by making fewer stops was significant. ...

Absurd
I find the document ridiculous. It doesn't have quotes nor does it have any supporting ''scientific'' evidence for the argument it makes. Along those lines, an alternate punishment for children isn't even suggested. I'm inclined to believe the information came from dubious sources. In the simplest terms... I have not been won over. No, I'm not an ...

The Prolem with the Article
Erica S. Perl, did a stack of comics fall on you as a small child? Why the arrogance in this article? Comics, as have been alluded to many times by other posters, have started many great readers. They have built a multitude of stupendous vocabularies. Yes, I am trying to show mine off. Getting down to brass tacks, the attitude presented ...

intentional community
I grew up in the small community surrounding the buildings of the 19th century Oneida Community and am a great granddaughter of several founders, so I too think about things communially intentional. My thought about the traumatization of Mormons at the hands of the state of Texas is to wonder why on earth the women and children weren't allowed to ...

Fake Letters this week.
These letters have to be fake. I mean, the first two are straight out of the movies or off of the television. Letter #1 is about some random guy who has a fetish about being in diapers. CSI had the same thing on last season. Letter #2 is objecting to a supposed family ''tradition'' where an older unmarried sibling has to dance at the wedding of ...

When moms have the freedom
I am so happy my husband supports my desition of staying with my child at home. I just couldn't leave him in childcare. I tried 3 different center after I actually visited like 15. It was just so devastating. I came home to cry all evening for leaving my child with who know who... We couldn't afford for me not to make money, we need my income. But ...

what mommies do
Lots of moms who have decided to stay home because they just can't leave their babies in daycare, either because they find the separation too hard or because after having to pay childcare fees and gas they don't really bring much money home, they are doing GPT sites from home. I am one of them. No, I didn't believe in those sites at first. My ...

Life and Death
The answer Prudence gave to Life and Death about the care of monor children following both parents deaths was incomplete. Such things should definitly be planned for through wills by all parents, remote as the possibility is that such an event may happen. The reasons that couples with new babies select ''Godparents'' is traditionally for exactly ...
