  • Hybrids, not as good a move as you think

Before you go out and buy a hybrid you may want to look into turning your current vehicle into a hybrid. In recent years many advances have been made towards using hydrogen in conventional gas burning engines. While some ideas seem to have been made by crack pot hippies or your neighbor experimenting in his garage some ideas will actually work. ...

  • Chic Green vs. Sensible

The extra cost of the Prius puts it out of reach of many, while a good used small car is a sensible and economical option. And if you drive conservatively, utilizing hypermiling techniques, you can get a lot closer to the MPG of the Prius for a MUCH lower price. The world is continually bombarding us with messages that we need to be consuming ...

  • Hybrid vs Used high mileage car

Another article ignoring the status of much of our citizens who will never be able to afford a Hybrid vehicle. Ultimately, until such a time as the cost of ownership comes down to earth, most of us can contribute to 'greening' by attempting to purchase a 'used' low gallons to the mile vehicle. And, before someone launches into 'Public ...

  • Re: Hybrids, Starting, Stopping, Myths & Reality

Excellent points in your rebuttal! What really makes me wonder - however - is the article's statement: 'According to a study by Natural Resources Canada, obeying the 10-second rule will add roughly $10 to a driver's annual maintenance bill.' I think that is a ridiculously low assessment of the likely costs... Starting a car is when the vast ...

  • 3 out of 4?

I'll take it. As for those who genuinely have trouble reading IOZ's blog, might I suggest you check your monitor settings. Seriously. And if that doesn't fix the problem (read: open your eyes to what the internet is supposed to look like), then it's time to upgrade to a monitor built this century. Really, you don't know what you're missing.

ChicagoEngineer:Though its funny, in both your version and jeqal's, the Republican car of choice is American made and the Democrats' foreign, which doesn't mesh with #9, and yet I'm pretty sure you're right on both counts. The mind boggles. The NFL is pretty widely accepted... Soccer for the Dems maybe? totally missed this the first time a ...

  • reseach it

Before even beginning the article is was apparent that there was a biased opinion being presented, not a neutral one. Which is always a prerogative. I find it interesting that the title compared a ''Tank'' with a Prius. Not just a a Hummer, but a tank, which it is not. Anyway, there is definitely a good debate between the two vehicles which is ...

  • Debunking another Prius myth in the "Green Lantern" article

Just for the record, my 2003 Prius has 158,000 miles on it, I have had only one problem with it - a radiator leak that occurred just after the car went off warranty - and Toyota paid for the replacement since there was no evidence that it was caused by my hitting something or some other trauma I caused and because my dealer could vouch for my ...

  • Re: hybrid as symbolism

drossless: Your point is moderately valid, in that every major purchase has some symbolic significance to the purchaser. But it is easy to make far too much of this and imply that the symbolic significance is the sole or primary element in the purchase decision. For instance, people who claim that the odd shape of the Prius is significant ...
