cancer
I think this article is as short-sighted and narrowly focused, like many in the modern medical community when it comes to cancer and its causes. Plenty of reliable studies show that many types of cancer are much more prevalent in modern cultures than in the third-world. (Consider the incidence of breast cancer alone.) To say that pesticides, ...

Heartburn also causes cancer
For anyone who is trying to reduce their risk of cancer, here's an easy one. (I wish I had known this ten years ago.) The fastest rising incidence of cancers in the U.S. is esophageal cancer, particularly adenocarcinoma of the gastro-esophageal junction. This cancer is tied with lung cancer as the third most deadly form of cancer, with a 5-year ...

The Cause of Cancer
The author wrote, ''In the end, admitting that most cancers have natural causes rightly shifts the focus on cancer prevention away from individual consumers. That's a good thing, since in the end, you can't always shop your way to becoming cancer-free.'' I found this to be an oddly-worded conclusion. Of course you ''can't always.'' There is ...

Re: And the point is??
I disagree shusaku. I don't see how we are 'ignoring developing ways of treating cancer' by avoiding known carcinogens like asbestos. This article seemed to imply that avoiding environmental cancer risks is a lost cause since we're just going to get cancer from some 'natural' cause anyway. True avoiding carcinogens won't guarantee that we ...

mesothelioma from nature
It may be splitting hairs, but I have to point out that mesothelioma is contracted from a natural substance - asbestos. Asbestos is a mineral. Yes, asbestos fibers are incorporated into a number of manufactured products, especially those used for insulation and fire protection, but asbestos itself is mined naturally, from rock. Perhaps most ...

Indoor Tanning
It's really amazing how the Dermatologists are so quick to say that the sun is bad for you. Can you imagine how we'd feel if there was no sun? They are more than welcome to go and live in caves and try to grow their food or even feel healthly without the sun's help. I am sure that after surviving only a few days or weeks without sunlight they will ...

Why the Flu?
Why the flu? Lets find a cure for cancer. Lets approve medicines that are proven to cure cancer and is less toxic to the body. If you do not want to do that then you tell my kids why their mom died at 38.

Why Study is Not Well-Designed
This study, like many others on inexpensive nutrients, seems designed to fail with it's extremely low dosage of 400IU. If you look into vitamin D, you'll find that the body requires something like 10s of thousands of IU per day. Vitamin D experts have long been saying that daily supplementation should be more like 4000 IU rather than 400. ...

In their own words (inaugural San edition)
As you scan through this thread replying to this post or that, all the while thinking you know with whom you are dealing, make sure you don't miss this (10/22/2007 8:05 PM): San: ''Actually, the HPV vaccine DOES prevent cervical cancer. Not all cases, not 100%, but it has been proven to prevent it under certain circumstances.'' Funny, it ...
