  • The Big Bailout...Ha!

There is no need for a bailout of the bank when we can bail them out through tax payer spending...heres how: America has fought hard to become an independent nation and a leader in innovation, so how can we fix our current economic downtrend efficiently? Some seem to think that throwing money at the corporations who failed us is the answer…we all ...

  • Dahlia Lithwick Uses Recipes to Write a Legal Column About..

... ABORTION. Lithwick's very idea that women do not have reproductive choice, if they cannot extinquish the life growing in their own wombs, is in and of itself faulty. I mean, my God, did the female have sex with the guy, or did she not? As to being ''for change'' in everything but pro-Abort American policies at home and abroad, not everyone ...

  • Time to Abolish Marriage

After years of debate, California has finally legalized gay marriage. While I have no problem with that per se, I do wonder why. Not why we’d make it legal, but why would gays even want to get married? Haven’t they seen the misery that married straight people go through? Don’t they realize that 50 percent of all marriages end up in divorce? ...

  • For those opposing gay marriage...

Some important points for those of you who oppose gay marriage: 1) This is not about religion. California's decision to permit gay marriages does not mean gay people are getting married in your church. Your church has every right to continue to prohibit gays from getting married. This is about the government granting gay couples rights such as ...

  • Drink your own wine!

An interesting article but it never ceases to amaze me the amount of inverse snobbery most American wine writers or 'experts' appear to possess. Whilst I agree that reasonable Californian wines of quality are quite thin on the ground at the moment, there really are some superb wines coming from Washington, Oregon etc. at good prices. However, ...

  • Will CA same-sex marriages cross state lines?

BookBeast: What I am wondering about is whether other states will recognize same-sex marriages performed in CA. ... I don't know whether ''marriage transfer'' between states is mandated by federal law or what. Or, if it is, whether that federal law will by intention, phrasing or some other loophole prevent same-sex couples married in California ...

  • Re: Gay Marriage in California

Hman: The problem with this decision is that it descriminates against all of the major religions in CA as well as the world that hold the belief that ''Holy Matrimony'' is between a man and a woman. No, it doesn't. The court specifically held that, as a result of this decision, ''... no religion will be required to change its religious policies ...

  • Home Disowners

If you like neologisms, here's one I have coined; ''Home Disowner'' - a person who makes an economically rational, if selfish decision to ''disown'' their home and escape a mortgage obligation which is (now) no longer to their advantage. ''Home Disownership'' - the act of ''disowning'' one's home; the state of being one who has disowned ...
