Inevitably, We Will Sell The Kitchen Sink
As the dollar falls and the Euro and the Yen raise in value, what may be uneconomically ''High'' to us will seem ''cheap'' to the world. In time, we will sell Dow-Jones, et al. Because of the price premium paid, the new owners will fire workers and shut down branches. Just like it always happens. When the ''good times'' return, whenever that may ...

Re: What difference will it make?
kgsbca: So the politicians should stay out of this, if they know what is good for the US economy. They probably won't, though, for if the company is acquired by a foreign owner, they will lose a valuable source of local campaign contributions, and we know that is the most important issue for politicians. No one yet seems to have noticed ...

#2 Is calories? What a sally!
This guy has no idea what makes a great beer. I'm surprised even flavor made the list (although at number one, there may be hope). Basically beers can be judged by many criteria but the usual ones are color, clarity, aroma, carbonation (including head and size of bubbles), taste and alcohol by volume (%ABV) as well as style of beer (stout porter ...

Price of beer
A keg of Budweiser runs about $75 or so, and holds 15.5 gallons, leading to a price of $4.83/gallon, or only slightly more expensive than diesel at the gas pump a block away from where I live in Texas. I'm not sure where the writer of this story got the $11/gallon figure from. Lastly, if you know the right local brewer, you can get a keg of better ...

Re: Are there enough people in Denver
I thought that all citizens of Denver left every four days so that the water could be recycled for Busch beer. Did I misunderstand that?

What about Homebrewing?
I wonder if homebrewing ends up being better for the environment than commercial beer. The economy of scale would seem to suggest that it's not. However, it's worth noting that many bottles can be reused indefinitely--just brew your own beer, buy an inexpensive capping machine and add new caps. E-Z-cap (or lever cap) bottles require no new metal ...

Recycled bottles
I think he would have done well to point out that nearly all bottles were recycled in the past. I live in Canada now, and am finally used to returning my empties (for 10 cents apiece, it's worth hanging on to them), but I remember growing up that all pop and beer bottles were returned and re-used. It's kind of amazing to me that we as a nation ...

Mead is for drinking ... oneself into a stupor
Listen, foodies. Mead is not, and can not be made to go with any meal. It's not for chicken or fish or beef or pork or mutton or even the wildest gamiest piece of animal or sides of vegetables nor sweets you can throw on the dinner table. Mead has one purpose, and one purpose only. It is for getting totally, obliteratively shit-faced. It is a brew ...

No good beer?
I suggest you try these people. Obviously I have a soft spot for the Evolution Amber Ale, but the Polygamy Porter is quite tasty, too.

Mining communications
why can't the mining companys sink cables or rods in the gound to communicat with the miners, they are drilling holes in the ground now to find them, why couldn't they do this before people go underground. The mining companys know where the workes are going to be working even before the first peice ofmineral is dug.
