Dems took over in 06 with one mission
Impeach Bush and get control of the Administration. So, the let F&F unregulated, they let wall street unregulated and they SCREWED YOU AND ME. Today we are paying for the Dems preocupation with getting more Power at the expense of TAKING CARE OF THOSE WHO PUT ''them'' IN POWER. Dems screwed us and now it is our turn to screw them and Repubs ...

I love slate. I have been a big fan from its inception. I was even a paying member with a slate umbrella during that phase. I have introduced at least 100 people by this point, many of which have become loyal fans. I have seen and welcomed many of your changes, however, there is one change I would like to request that you reconsider.A couple of ...

06 Prediction: High oil and grain prices leads to crisis
I happened upon this prediction from the Earth Policy Institute wherein in 2006, it was predicted that world grain prices would rise due to fall in world grain production for 7 straight years, 8 if you include '07. According this observer, '06 production would fall short by 61million tons. This means stocks falls below 60 days of consumption. ...

Re: Isolationists
You mean Milton Friedman economics. Its called economic liberalism: privatization, deregulation, globalization, emphasis on production, not distribution of wealth. These concepts basically frame their agenda so that in their minds, everything should be privately owned, thereby giving it a market value. And so the orangutans endangered by ...

Roger McShane
I love ''Today's Papers'' -- I read it first before I read anything else! However, I find Roger McShane's columns offer too much commentary. A little ''dig'' now and then is okay, but McShane gives opinion in virtually every paragraph, and that's not what I read TP for. Just the news, folks!

Presidential Dynasties
As Daniel Politi points out, Kristof's op-ed for the Times isn't exactly the first time we've herad the issue of a potential Bush-Clinton Presidential monopoly of 24-28 years discussed, though Kristof's clearly pleased to be bringing it to we, the dear readers', attentions. The link to Hendrik Hertzberg's New Yorker ''Comment'' from October ...

Today's Papers?
Good round-up of what the New York Times and LA Times had to say today -- with a brief mention of the WaPo thrown in for good measure. I guess folks at the Chicago Trib, Sun Times, the Philly Inquirer, Boston Globe, USA Today and a myriad of other papers are closed for Christmas...And there's some good stuff over at the Christian Science ...

Life after Bush
You write that The Washington Post article ''paints a picture.'' It certainly does, one that Jayson Blair would be proud of.

What Sport! A recent exchange over Taiwan in the Honolulu Advertiser
I love it when, every once and a while, a newspaper deems it fitting to run a back-and-forth exchange of critical views on a topic other than who's going to win in '08 or the war in Iraq. That's why I appreciated this recent spat between a Honolulu Advertiser columnist and a former professor from the University of Hawai'i Deparment of Political ...

Is "Neo-Con" limited ONLY to "Republicans"?
In as much as this author firmly believes that to elect a DEMOCRAT is STILL a superior choice to the ''Alternative'', the dem's leadership would seem to be letting the golden opportunities that the American Voter has afforded them to INFLUENCE ''Corrective Changes'' and began the long and difficult effort to RESTORE American Rights and Civil ...
