  • Albania-Bush Love

Why do Albanians love George W Bush? Because nobody is perfect. Some are less perfect than others, whether they be in Albania, Oklahoma, or Texas. Cheers

  • Sense of Smell in Fiction

A 2008 novel, Discreet Needs, uses the sense of smell along with taste and color. In this romance set in Texas between 1966 and 1970 the heroine lives in a sensory world of fragrances including the smells of various men she's involved with as well as food, nature, the rooms in houses. Smell is used throughout the novel, though not obtrusively, to ...

  • If our miserable governor

doesn't want to accept extra funds for unemployment for out-of-work Texans because he's worried that it'll place a ''burden'' on employers to eventually rehire them, then it sounds like he wants to shrink the workforce of this state. So why not call Perry's bluff, and redirect the funds to other states to pay Texans to go work there?

  • Hotlink to a Music Video -- John McCain for President!

I enjoyed watching both major American political party conventions during the last two weeks. Both were highly impressive, albeit quite stage managed, television events. the speeches were good, the nutzo fervor of the partisan crowds was exciting, even the props, hats, signs and occasional arrests of journalists on public sidewalks, and protesting ...

  • Arugula for victory

Another point for arugula: it grows like a weed, at least in central Texas. Here in rural Brazos County, this pointy-headed professor has a self-seeding patch of the tasty green in his backyard; the homegrown has a bit more zest to it than the supermarket stuff. Obama should proudly reclaim the A-word, which, if you think about it, is emblematic ...

  • August--A Lovely Month! :)

As a daughter of the Southland, and having been born in August under the Leo sign, I feel extremely blest all around. I grew up on a cattle ranch here in my native Texas and remember August as the last-ditch fun period before school started back. As an adult I still look forward to August as that end of summer month. The last hurrah before Fall ...

  • Franken on the Hill

Before we rebuild another country we need to clean our own house. By that I mean send career politicians packing, rather they be republican, democrat or an independent. Sorry this means Ted Kennedy needs to go home and fight his cancer and Oklahoma's Istook needs to return to mopping floors at the radio station. There could be worse things to ...

How about incorporating cinnamon into the plastics or glues used in the housing for the computers? Most ants hate cinnamon and putting cinnamon solutions across door jams & windows keeps them out of houses. Why not computers? Don't know if cinnamon will have the same affect on this particular species tho...
