  • Missing the Mark

Tim Harford writes ''If AIG had shot off its own metaphorical foot to claim a government bailout, the argument against the bailout would be compelling. But it didn't, and it isn't.'' But it's not AIG with the moral hazard, it's the thousands of companies that invested in them. AIG should have to call in its debts right now, but realizing the ...

  • The Voice of Class Warfare

Yes Barry has found his voice. Problem is, it's the same voice he's had all along. The Obama Voice: ''I promise to Jack up the taxes on those damn rich folks. Let's make them squirm so the rest of you losers feel better about yourselves.'' ''I promise to cut taxes for the rest of you, just like Bill Clinton said he would.... That is of ...

Did you people WATCH the debate at ALL!?!?!?!I saw a strong confident woman who is ready to be Vice-Prez. I saw a Senator who became all FLUSTERED when his time was getting close to ending. He CHOKED up! He misspoke and stated the exact opposite of what he meant to say!! Hello---THAT is a MAJOR BLUNDER/FLUB!!!! If there are many more like ...

  • $700B / 300M people = $2,333 per person

What's your share of the bailout cost? $700B / 300M people = $2,333 per person. Since there are only about 100 million taxpayers, the number per taxpayer is about $7,000.00. The press should start putting this number in terms the average taxpayer can understand.

  • An Unfamiliar Hand

Obama would be better served if the country were in better shape and not teetering toward economic crisis. There is so much unknown about him and his policies so vague and undefined, but still tinged with an almost socialist brand of liberalism, that he seems a far riskier choice than the steady hand of McCain. Worse for Obama he is associated ...

  • Professional Journalism

I know you are professional journalists. A profession is a fancy Latin term for the way you express your belief in the one true God as you understand him. Mr. Webster describes profession as the act of taking the vows of a religious community, or: an act of openly declaring or publicly claiming a belief or faith: an avowed religious faith a: a ...

  • Amerca's oddest tax dodge.

This article would have you believe the 861 argument is frivilous. I have been following Larken Rose's research and postings for over six years and am convinced he is correct in his findings. One only has to read his book, Kicking the Dragon, to realize the IRS and the DOJ with the aid of the courts and the media are protecting a lie for ...

  • Governor of a Communistic State

All Alaskans that I've ever met, liberal and conservative alike, look forward to their annual payment of $1000+ for being an Alaskan resident. We give it to them for their oil. I don't want their oil and I don't want to pay them, and, by the way --- when your government pays its people, as ours pays Alaskans, isn't that called ''communism''? That ...

  • What's rich? You're right

Amen to Gross. If you're making $250,000 a year, in the top 2% of earners, you have zero right to complain. And if you do complain, you're just showing a level of self-centeredness that's sadly out of whack with justice.

  • Don't hit ME

But why is that a good thing? The tax increase hits you in the wallet, not just the underage drinkers it ostensibly is aimed at. Higher taxes proposed to affect underage drinking are lies. They are about money, and prohibition. They are blunt instruments...much like the 21 LDA. I do not understand why a moderate drinker like myself, who usually ...
