Re: Forthcoming article in Quitter's World
Isn't putting your head down and plodding on what most of us do when faced with difficult, unpleasant situations. Most of us don't have the luxury of just quitting when it isn't fun anymore. Maybe that is what Palin and her group just don't get. Sometimes you don't get to have things all your own way.

New Republicans Are Throwbacks To The John Birch Society.
The stars of the Conservative Political Action Committee (C-PAC) conference remind me of the fringe elements of the so-called conservative movement of the 1950's and early 1960's. Although Barry Goldwater is remembered as the standard bearer for that earlier movement, he was clearly the most level -headed of the John Birch Society bunch. And now ...

On the Republican Party tearing itself to pieces
Here's a prediction: After the Republicans lose, a significant part of the base will be convinced that it is because McCain did not hit Obama hard enough. If he had just authorized televisions ads explaining that B. Hussein Obama is a secret Muslim terrorist, we would have won! If this group manages to nominate Bible Spice in 2012, the ...

Re: A sorry state
Curragh makes a similar point to mine, only better and more concisely, and provokes a longer, more confused reply from jsgilm. One that attempts to refute the charge of jingoistic irrelevance with a fresh dose of, er, jingoistic irrelevance. According to which, literary recognition is but ''a sort of phantom strength'', a poor surrogate for ...

Longevity does not necessarily bring wisdom
Biden was wrong on the surge. Biden was the one whose wisdom was to recommend that Iraq be partitioned into four zones - an approach that would have guaranteed a Shia region completely dependent on Iran. Biden has been around many years and can tell decent stories but Biden is such an ideologue he is incapable of actually looking at the data. The ...

Did you people WATCH the debate at ALL!?!?!?!I saw a strong confident woman who is ready to be Vice-Prez. I saw a Senator who became all FLUSTERED when his time was getting close to ending. He CHOKED up! He misspoke and stated the exact opposite of what he meant to say!! Hello---THAT is a MAJOR BLUNDER/FLUB!!!! If there are many more like ...

Sarah Palin & the Republican Party
It's taken me a couple of days to sort out my feelings but now I realize what's been troubling me. It's grief - recognition of complete hopelessness. I'm a registered Democrat now, have been for a while now. But at heart, I was still a Republican, hoping for the Republican Party to right itself, come back to center, to sanity. I was born into ...
