  • Has Hitchens Actually Ever Said Anything Right?

The man thought Iraq would be a cakewalk and the US would not face an insurgency, there would be minimal civilian casualties among Iraqi and Afghani populations, Petraeus' surge strategy was too little & too late, and that John Edwards was the only one in the Presidential race with any integrity. Hitchens also said that anyone who referred to ...

  • Bombing Iran

Christopher Hitchens is stuck in 1990's. He thinks airstrikes with zero troops on the ground will solve the Iran crisis. He also thought Afghanistan was won, Iraq would be a cake walk, the surge strategy wouldn't work, the enemies in Iraq were not ''guerillas'' or ''insurgents,'' and John Edwards was a man of integrity. Great job, Chris!

  • Iraq

If we are not wanted and aren't going to change things we should leave Iraq now. Not in 2011.

  • Elections in Iran

First, Who is Shmuel Rosner? Secondly, as long as the United States gives preferential treatment to Israel, there will never be peace in the Middle East. Thirdly, it is important to note that Iran was on of the least extremist of Muslim nations. If you can recall, a covert CIA coup took place in 1953 against a legitimate, democratically elected ...

  • Change-o-meter

Obama is great with his slow, pensive, delightful rhetoric. But it will be only American lives he will be spending in Afghanistan.

  • bad economy - good military

It is sad that because of the recession and lack of jobs that many have no choice but to join the military and fight in Iraq and Afgahnistan.

  • Who said, "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer"

I agree that during the campaign she was remarkably racist and sexist. Both are incredibly manipulative. She is fantasic at what she does though, and brilliant. I think a lot of the abuse they ground through from the a holes of the GOP all those years made them who they are. They had to adopt an ''if you can't beat em, join em.'' I do love them ...

  • Re: US should buy Afghan opium

Yes, a couple of years ago I calculated that the cost of buying the entire opium crop (about $800 million then) was less than the cost of eradicating it, especially when factoring in the cost of keeping 50,000 troops around to keep it eradicated. I informed my congressman, but he is wedded to the War on Drugs. But thinking again, why not pay the ...
