Where's the evidence
While I am naturally aligned to the those wearing green in Iran, against the intolerant theocracy, I find Christopher Hitchens' article unconvincing. His main evidence for the rigging of the election is that it conflicts with trends in other countries. Well, perhaps Iran is different. Unfortunate, but true. It seems that if the west is to support ...

Re: Is The Media Bias? Here is Evidence of Bias
Media bias is a perceived notion that certain press has and is pushing a viewpoint, instead of reporting news or airing programs in an objective way. That is the way I see it. Such bias often refers to media as a whole, such as a newspaper chain, or a given television or radio network, instead of individual reporters or writers of television ...

Liberal Media Lies
Political logic augurs a Democratic triumph in looming US elections but Barack Obama’s White House duel with John McCain is still a statistical tie, prompting some to wonder why he is yet to break away. Political logic augurs a democratic triumph? Augur: To predict, especially from signs or omens; foretell. What signs or omens are they looking ...

Fearless Publication under an Oppressive Regime
In 1978-79, my now-ex husband and I lived and worked in Iran, in the period leading up to and through the Iranian Revolution. We arrived in July, 1978, just a few weeks before martial law was declared; and we left in February, 1979, on the first flight of Americans evacuated out after the Revolution. My husband worked on a top-secret contract, ...

News Flash: Christopher Hitchens Seeks Catholic Confessional
I was surprised to read Christopher Hitchens today, riding high on his moral horse as to the political, cultural and economic predations of Maximum Leader Robert Mugabe in his current Country of Residence, Zimbabwe. What people like Hitchens never seem to understand, is that morality is never just for other people, or leaders, or religious types. ...

Thank you very much!
Anne Applebaum is right. I remember stories from my father as well as my uncle how much they appreciated the fact that they were able to listen in their Youth to RIAS and similar broadcasts behind the iron curtain. They listened out of curiosity for real news. But of course also out of love for music that was not part of the state sponsored ...

Iraq: Failure, mistake, or Success?
Much has been stated about the fact that we were wrong to enter Iraq. That success is measured by how quickly we can get out of Iraq. Consider this: Iraq is in the heart of what most extremist Muslims consider holy ground. By attacking Iraq we attacked the heart of what the extremist Muslim holds dear. They have responded in force. Millions of ...

Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran or Just Kiddin'?
Senator McCain seems to have a lock on the Republican nomination. The Democratic race is leaning Obama, but Team Clinton has a long record of coming from behind (no pun intended). If dirt is to be dug up and thrown, Bilary and Co. will be shoveling fast and hard. So, McCain vs. Whom? If McCain does win, what happens to Pax Americana? ...
