I had to write this

We were here over seven years ago! E-mail is doing fine.
My circle of friends were on IMs ten years ago on our PCs and when cell phones gained SMS capacity around seven years ago we were doing SMS IMs too. We had used e-mails since the mid-1980s on BBSs, then moved to internet e-mail full time in 1994. So to us, this preference of IMs to e-mail is very old news. We use e-mail for larger messages ...
