Sarah Palin-Voter demographics
Your missing the important 'demographic' word here...MOM. Hockey mom, soccer mom, baseball mom, cub scout mom, PTA mom. Doesn't matter... we all face the same demands and challanges...and regardless of anything else... it means we can instantly relate.

You assume wrong
The statement says... ...there are 347,061 players under the age of 20 registered with the organization across the country. Presumably, most of these players have moms, although since there are some households with multiple hockey players, we can assume that 347,061 is a rather high estimate. The word his PLAYERS not MOMS, so the estimate ...

Re: I don't disresepct her at all.
No, by all means disrespect her, and be proud. Her avowed beliefs are repulsive -- not, you know, wrongheaded, but actively hateful and vile. Though she was actually topped last night in the hateful and vile department by Mr Giuliani. Of course, I've been bitter and jaundiced ever since the Flames signed Bertuzzi, so don't mind me. But I gotta ...

Re: The League Needs to Contract
I would love to see Florida, Nashville, Phoenix, Carolina and Atlanta fold, with Hartford and Winnipeg being given their teams back. Quebec could use a sequel to the Nordiques, too. The irony now is that after all those years of players complaining about getting paid in Canadian dollars, the U.S. dollar is now almost equal. I don't think ...

Re: Say what you want. . .
Ovechkin is a great player, but I think Russian or European players have a harder time catching on with the general public. Look how tough it is for them to remember any names other than Wayne Gretzky. Parise has talent. I went to Crosby's first NHL game in New Jersey, and Parise had a point or two. The entire crowd chanted ''Parise's better'' ...

Sidney Crosby
Why does everyone keep saying the NHL needs fixing? Yes, it needs to market itself better, but its miles ahead of the other sports leagues. The problem is that with sports in America we equate success with popularity (ie - high TV ratings). That doesn't equate to increased quality. Yes, scoring is down, but the NHL playoffs this year have been ...

Re: Best post of the day
ChicagoEngineer:Though its funny, in both your version and jeqal's, the Republican car of choice is American made and the Democrats' foreign, which doesn't mesh with #9, and yet I'm pretty sure you're right on both counts. The mind boggles. The NFL is pretty widely accepted... Soccer for the Dems maybe? totally missed this the first time a ...

Re: Used to hang out in this cool pub.
We need a hockey metaphor then. Like 7 years ago was the original 6 (stars!), 5 years ago was the grand doubling. 4 years ago was the WHA merger, 2 years ago was the peak post-expansion period, now is 2 year from now, rapid contraction, the Bettman nadir. p.s. Holmgren, once a thug, always a thug. like the guy from Sports Illy said all those ...
