  • Has Hitchens Actually Ever Said Anything Right?

The man thought Iraq would be a cakewalk and the US would not face an insurgency, there would be minimal civilian casualties among Iraqi and Afghani populations, Petraeus' surge strategy was too little & too late, and that John Edwards was the only one in the Presidential race with any integrity. Hitchens also said that anyone who referred to ...

  • Bombing Iran

Christopher Hitchens is stuck in 1990's. He thinks airstrikes with zero troops on the ground will solve the Iran crisis. He also thought Afghanistan was won, Iraq would be a cake walk, the surge strategy wouldn't work, the enemies in Iraq were not ''guerillas'' or ''insurgents,'' and John Edwards was a man of integrity. Great job, Chris!

  • Not acting rationally, indeed

I have to admit, I've fallen into the Westernized trap of expecting the ayatollahs to act rationally. One assumes with such absolute power, corruption and cynicism, that they'd see through the charade that holds them aloft. But Khameni's behavior since the election demonstrates very clearly that he is incapable of making even basic political ...

  • Hitchens : because Anglo-Saxons did plot against them

Hitchens makes an oversimplified analysis of why Iranians tend to blame his native land for their problems. It is in a way a knee-jerk reaction (by both the mullahs and by Hitchens): but there is a method to the Persian madness. They have deep historic roots. Even the opponents of the regime probbaly agree with that: deep down they trust the ...

  • Whining of Whinos- Ideological Purist

The whining of disgruntled whinos. Iran should never care what Hitchens or his ilk percieve of their society. Its ironic that Hitchens claims that democracy should not be allowed to give way to an Islamic state which gives ''one vote, one time'' as they said. However, neither should an Islamic republic give ''one vote to end it all'' to niave ...

  • Does Iran Counter-balancing Israel bring Stability?

I suppose being an Israeli nowadays is quite bleak. Warmongers dominate all politics in Israel, apparently, and normal relations with allies who are distant neighbors can be destructive for them - Georgia being such an example. I suppose it seems like increasing Israeli military actions throughout the region is the only solution to protecting ...

  • Re: Playing political wack-a-mole with the brown nations..

I agree with you that trying to keep nukes out of the hands of nations that truly want them has not worked — and probably can not work — indefinitely. And of course there is a double standard when it comes to the U.S., Russia, etc. that makes nuclea non-proliferation entirely unappealing to other nations. However, theocracies (including Israel, ...

  • News Flash: Christopher Hitchens Seeks Catholic Confessional

I was surprised to read Christopher Hitchens today, riding high on his moral horse as to the political, cultural and economic predations of Maximum Leader Robert Mugabe in his current Country of Residence, Zimbabwe. What people like Hitchens never seem to understand, is that morality is never just for other people, or leaders, or religious types. ...
