  • Medical Care

I was amused by the following line in Justin Peter's article and could not tell if it was written togue-in-cheek: One out of eight Sierra Leonean mothers die in childbirth—an outcome, the article claims, that is fundamentally due to ''life in poor countries: Governments don't provide enough decent hospitals or doctors; families can't afford ...

  • The Big Bailout...Ha!

There is no need for a bailout of the bank when we can bail them out through tax payer spending...heres how: America has fought hard to become an independent nation and a leader in innovation, so how can we fix our current economic downtrend efficiently? Some seem to think that throwing money at the corporations who failed us is the answer…we all ...

  • Crossing State lines

No one forces you to buy health insurance from any particular company? The employer isn't required to buy you health insurance and you can choose which company to buy from. Opening up more options for where you or your employer buy health insurance is a good thing and not a bad thing. http://reformhealthcare.net

  • ER reform ideas

Even if it were legal for ERs to turn away non emergency patients, for a practical matter, they wouldn't. The risk of a patient seeming to have a non emergency complaint and then dieing before seeing a physician and the potential malpractice suits (and news stories) is one hell of a deterent. Even if it were a policy in the ER, and there were no ...

Cindy: For me, the shoe is on the opposite foot... I know Sarah Palin (and her history) quite well, but am only aware of John McCain periferally through the news. I'm not offended by anything that I've heard, but I am concerned that he is 72 yrs old with a history of cancer. I think there is a very real chance that his health could fail with his ...

  • Ralph Nader: Left out? Cynthia McKinney: Barely a mention.

As I sat and listened to the DNC and RNC coverage on TV/Radio I waited and waited for either party to mention a third party: Independant. That being Ralph Nader/Matt Gonzalez. Nader picked his running mate early in the campaign. Or 4th - Green Party Nominee Cynthia McKinney and running mate Rosa Clemente. They barely got a mentioning. Just a ...

  • A Cabinet Post for Hillary?

Hey, I'm as disappointed as any of you Hillary supporters that she isn't the nominee of the Democrats. But I'm over it and ready to look ahead. It's time to get behind Obama and get the Bush Bums out of the White House! PUMA? Get real. The only ones who are benefiting from the likes of you all are the Republicans. Nothing says ''weak'' better than ...

  • Harry and Louise

How pathetic can the pre-debate over health care get? The cozy relationship between the ad creator and Louise (married) somehow makes it all the worse -- now raking in a $million plus by bringing back the same characters credited for seriously wrecking health care reform when first brought to the public consciousness by Hilary Clinton. Which is ...

  • The Joys of Night Float

Having trained at a very forward-thinking medical school (the University of South Alabama, Mobile, Alabama), my own night float experience was in March of my internship year, '91-'92. It was without a doubt the most horrible month of a year that is traditionally hell on a popsicle stick. Not only were the all-night hours severely disruptive of ...
