Israel has nothing to do with melt-down
I agree with the author. The campaign is placing too much emphasis on Israel.. They are not the problem. The economic meltdown is.

Serious business
The economy is in a meltdown and Congress can't work over the weekend? If there's a war they can't act till after the holiday? Not only Bush will be gone but he should be taking his Republican Congressional cohort with him.

Amazing that Americans Have This Discussion
Having studied American civics in grade school and high school, and having my doubts that Bush Cheney or anyone else in our current White House similarly learned about American history, traditions, institutions and law, it continually amazes me that this Bush Cheney Presidency has run riot so egregiously. Congress? Lay down. The Courts? Lay ...

Great Review of Some Important Books . . .

Executive privilege and the past president
After President Bush has left office, how are his executive privilege claims affected? To what extent can the new president make public or turn over to Congress papers that Bush asks be kept confidential until later? In particular:If Congress continues to investigate matters such as the firing of the US attorneys, can the new president remove ...

Democrats in Congress Failed Us All 8 Years
The Democrats and Democratic Party failed to stand up for what is right for the entire eight years of the Bush / Cheney White House misrule. They gave away our American two-party system; they gave away majority rule; they gave away our civil rights and bill of rights and civil liberties; they gave away the constitutional authority of the ...

Why I'm an American in Exile...
On June 13th, 2007, I received a death threat from someone claiming to be a member of the US Intelligence community. What was my ''crime''? I blew the whistle on the election fraud of 2004. Why did the CIA feel threatened by this? Because I revealed how they smuggled cocaine into the US using a front company called ''Skyway Communications''. ...

A Helpful Perspective
This article was helpful in clarifying the options available to the Democrats if they wanted to hamstring Gonzalez. I had assumed that this administration's expansion and abuse of executive privilege in order to withhold information was simply keeping Gonzalez off limits for any effective prosecution. That being said, I'm not sure that you can ...

Vastly Easier Solution
Rather than erect the rather Rube-Goldberg solutions suggested, why not simply eliminate Executive Privilege? As its very name implies, it is a privilege, not a right. Congress could easily attach a rider to the White House funding bill declaring all product produced by the funds are available to congressional oversight and subject to subpoena by ...
