  • Typical American Motorhead POV

Next time you visit Belarus try getting around by bicycle instead of ''spanking-new BMW''. You'll see a whole different world and you won't contribute to the decay of their society. Plus you'll get a better idea of why Belarus is a paradigm for sustainable development [onearth.org].

  • Bagasse/Bamboo Products

I am the President of P&C Compostech Inc (www.compostech.com). My company is the largest importer and distributor in Canada of compostable cups made from recycled bamboo and bagasse. Bagasse is sugarcane pulp left over from the sugar making process. Our manufacturer, (currently in China, with plans to relocate the foctories to Canada once the ...

  • one does not equal one

I think you article was great, but there was one point you left out. It may take more energy to make a ceramic or stainless steel cup than a styrofoam cup, but once the ceramic cup is made you will use it for years. If you drink 2 cups of coffee a day using a styrofoam cup that is 730 styrofoam cups in just one year. I don't think styrofoam is ...

  • Is Landsburg for real?

As with any of Professor Landsburg’s arguments, the logic is impeccable, he’s a clever chap. But as with any logical derivation, it is the initial assumptions from which the conclusions are drawn about which we should be wary. In the case of this article, the implicit assumption revolves around just exactly who counts in future generations. The ...

  • Organic Pollution? Nonsense

This is just public relations scare tactics, directly from the conventional growers' lobby. Note that every ''fact'' claimed somewhere in the article is denied elsewhere.

  • Re: An Alaskan's Opinion

Thank you for your answer... As you have discovered, Alaska is a gorgeous place with tremendous natural resources. Mining is an important industry in Alaska, but it shouldn't (and needn't) be carried out at the expense of other industries and the environment. But as usual, money is the bottom line, and laxer laws usually translate into higher ...

  • energy saving

Dear friends, What do we do with all the money we save on energy saving measures? We spend it! We re-insert it into the energy consuming economy, where it is converted into joules. Didn't you know? That is why we keep on using more energy despite all well meant endeavours. I recommend that you BURN the money that you save, otherwise your efforts ...

  • Pencils

The problem is that many ''wooden'' pencils aren't made of wood any more. The synthetic mixture not only isn't wood it is also damaging to pencil sharpeners. I have spent hours cleaning out electric pencil sharpeners that are gummed up with whatever it is.

  • Governor Palin

Excellent article but you left out one other fact that voters should know. This the Governor who has reigned over the slaughter of wolves for the last two years in Alaska. These are wolves hunted from the air, tracked to their dens and then every single one of the pack is destroyed. When I saw who McCain had chosen I knew that for me it was now ...

What about Bighead Newt Gingrich's Bigfoot love child caught on cam while family fly fishing? Or the Big Stance Larry Craig Bigfoot toilet rendevous caught on a deputy sheriff's sting cam?
