I don't know if the guys already got the answer to this but according to the commentary on 25th Hour by Spike Lee the actor Whitlock came up with this as an ad-lib. He's also from my hometown of South Bend, Indiana. Acknowledge this!

It's a Southern Thang
I'm a 43 year black man, born in Virginia and raised in Annapolis, MD. I've been pronouncing that particular profanity in a drawn out manner my entire life. Isiah Whitlock picked it up the way most good actors do, he did his homework.
