There's a distinction you're not making here: Apple has NOT prevented the Pre from synching with Macintosh computers, they've prevented the Pre from synching with iTunes. Farhad misses a major, major point in his column. There are other companies that make devices that synch quite happily with users' iTunes libraries. Apple Itunes
So apple wants to sell us a song for a 1.29. Purchasing a CD you get a much higher quality music, one can then load that CD onto your Itunes at much higher quality. So Apple has reduced the quality of a song, encode personal information into that song and it is still not CD quality, but you have to pay more. What gives Apple.
