When moms have the freedom
I am so happy my husband supports my desition of staying with my child at home. I just couldn't leave him in childcare. I tried 3 different center after I actually visited like 15. It was just so devastating. I came home to cry all evening for leaving my child with who know who... We couldn't afford for me not to make money, we need my income. But ...

what mommies do
Lots of moms who have decided to stay home because they just can't leave their babies in daycare, either because they find the separation too hard or because after having to pay childcare fees and gas they don't really bring much money home, they are doing GPT sites from home. I am one of them. No, I didn't believe in those sites at first. My ...

Airline Maintenance Scam
The grounding of hundreds of airplanes for ''maintenance'' issues was simply a cynical use of FAA regulations by the airlines to create a tax loss and an excuse to raise prices to double-cover the soaring price of jet fuel--at the painful expense of air travelers. If you doubt this, log on to Southwest to buy a two-way ticket to LA from Oakland. ...

Re: airline delays
I've heard enough. This article broached the subject, but I, for one, am calling on Slate for a follow up article where the writer interviews some of the hands on people in the industry, including those in baggage handling! My project management training with critical path analysis and all that, tells me that things are never as simple as it ...

Wikitravel
I have experienced many problems with wikitravel and would like to say that you really hit the nail on the head with this article. Frustrations with sites like wikitravel and World 66 were part of what caused me to start a company dedicated to travelers. As a company we hope to solve many of the problems you speak of in this article... We are ...

Bring Back Trains Please!
Why can't the railroads and transportation companies create a consortium to rebuild the national rail infrastructure that uses a cheap alternative to petroleum and so competes with the airline industry? Just imagine zipping across the country at 800 or more MPH and going to New York from Los Angeles in 5-6 hours, by train, perhaps in a private ...

Varig
the national airline has perfectly good service between Rio and Sao Paulo so take that and avoid TAM and Gol. They even served empanadas onboard. Varig's website won't take your American credit cards but their 800 number sure will.

Bad Airlines
The Brazilians would have to go a long ways toward Hades to be worse than American Airlines.

Wow
Wow. All I can say is: wow. This is one of the most embarassing articles I've ever read. I hope and pray that anyone reading Slate in Brazil realize that you do not even speak for a fraction of Americans. 200 people die in one of the worst ways imaginable, and your response is to feel smugly vindicated for thinking that your single (rather ...
