buy up opium in afghanistan
I think it is a great idea. The drug lords barely pay them anything. This would be much less than what we are currently paying to the corrupt politicians that have deceived the US for years. If we give the farmers money and then destroy the crops we reduce the world supply and the dependency of the farmers on the warlords to get them by. ...

Mr Hitchens common sense
Mr Hitchens has proposed that the USA buy the entire Afghan opium poppy crop to end the Afghan based heroin trade. That's an idea who's time has come. Melt-down or not buying heroins opium base the world over could curb the world's heroin plage. Please share your excuses for not taking this common sense. Perhaps someone will award a prize for ...

Re: Declare war on Pakistan
GreenwichJ: . The Pashtun up in the North West see Punjabi government in Islamabad as almost as foreign as Nato forces in Afghanistan, and will happily kill Punjabis with impunity. Not to belabour a cliche, but violence really is the only language they understand. To beat the Taliban we need to pour troops over the border, clear and burn the ...

Let's Escape Afghanistan and Iraq
3,000 Americans have been killed by terrorism in ten years. We've invested a trillion dollars in various wars here in the last 8 years. We've lost 4000 soldiers in those wars. Contrast this with 600,000 dead of infections in hospitals. We took 2,600 FBI who were prosecuting normal crime to fighting terrorism. The murder rate is way up. We took 5 ...

Political Petraeus Pushes for Neo Con 'Win'
General Petraeus is a political animal. All members of the general corps are, but Petraeus in particular subscribes to the Neo Con American global hegemonic design. And his Central Command posting and Afghanistan 'surge' strategy is a political maneuver on behalf of Neo Con ideological preservation. [If you doubt that Neo Conism represents a ...

The Great Game -- Anglo Amero Brits and Kamchatka!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waziristan Honestly, I do not know why it is, that I both love to read Christopher Hitchens every week, and disagree with his every point almost without exception. Maybe it is his ''the sun never sets on the British Empire'' world girdling perapatetic meanderings around the World Map of Current Events and political ...

AEI Neo Con Applebaum: Glass 1/5 Full!
I got to hand it to Applebaum: at least she went over there and got some actual firsthand information before she put forth her neo con imperial worldview. I also have to thank her for not simply blaming it on 'Islamofascism'. The circumstances in Afghanistan are far too complex and nuanced than to simply blame Islam. The people of ...

Pakistan
In response to Hitchens' warning that Pakistan, in its lust to dominate Afghanistan, is backing the Taliban (and, by implication, Al Queda): I say let them have it. That should end any threats from that part of the world for quite some time. No one since Alexander the Great has been able to hang onto Afghanistan for any significant period. The ...
