Re: Wrong Direction
I agree that this country is headed in the wrong direction and it will take a great deal of effort to undo what is being done. I am more convinced than ever that every person who recognizes what is happening should begin to actively campaign now against Senators and Congressmen from their state that support the current health care bill. I know I ...

There's just no cure for stupid
If you know someone who is a True Believer in the 2012 Apocalypse, the only thing you can do to help them is to remember an urgent appointment or if speaking to them on the phone, tell them an important call is coming in and you ahve to go, 'bye now. No matter how much evidence you can produce to disprove their belief, which borderes on ...

hmm
i doubt it will be the apocolipse but most religons do point to this date or era as a time of rebirth or the coming of a messiah so will all humanity die on this date i doubt it but when multiple profits thousands of years ago mentioned a time with planes suberines and xboxes as a time of destruction and nuclear warfare i think of it as more than ...

article about 2012
i found this article to be rather shallow and unresearched. i understand that it may be one person's opinion, but i feel that if you are going to open yourself to others opinions, you need to have all the facts. sure the author chose to pick the media side of the 2012 issues. it makes for interesting reading i guess. but there is much more ...

Insults and snide remarks: Is this the new journalism?
I approached this article with interest, expecting a thoughtful presentation and discussion of 2012-related prophecies. Instead, I was subjected to a tirade of insults and disparaging comments about everyone who had given the matter more than a passing thought. I came out none the wiser, wondering what the point of the article was... It wasn't ...

2012
Too bad he just gives his opinion of why this isn't true. He uses no evidence of any kind, least of all scientific. I don't believe, or disbelieve the 2012 theory, but if you are going to try to debunk some theory, you should at the least. Have some kind of scientific proof for why it's not true. just my opinion, as this article was just this ...

The Mayan Factor
A wise friend of mine once observed that ''you can make a lot of money as a debunker in this country''. Our national cynicism knows no bounds. And while I fervently agree with the ''author'' of this piece that there is an often unbridled sentiment to rush to apocalyptic conclusions in these troubled times, I also try to exercise a little more ...

Re: 2012 another space odyssey
Real RML, I didn't suggest that the Mayans reset their calendar, we (well, the Latin West) did by starting a calendar/timeline of our own, to celebrate ''the Name of the Lord (Anno Domini). I merely brought that up, because if that naming convention hadn't occurred, the world wouldn't end on 12/21/12 (the sexy sequence). BTW I'm a Dutch ...

2012 another space odyssey
I spent most of 1999 monitoring data migration to a y2k-resistant accounting system. To this day I believe (no cognitive dissonance here) that the account rep for the new system did not really know whether he was selling necessity, but the company dollar was acceptable remedy for ignorance. As I put my dollars on the collection tray I feel ...
