You neverhad any gun rights to start with? The second Amendmant is not about guns is is about the right to be armed as well or better than those who seek to deprive you of your life and/or liberty. One can be armed and not have a gun. I often arm myself with knowlege such as knowlege of places where it may not be wise to travel or just being aware of possible danger.
At times I have armed myself with a knife or club perhaps answering an unexpected knock on the door in the middle of the night. I have also been armed with a firearm at various times in my life such as when I was in the Army and Air Force, a Parole Officer or Jailer and later in life as a Security Guard. I have also armed myself as a law biding civillian to protect my home and family. I have also armed my wife and daughter with pepper spray adn fire arms for self defense purposes.
Today a repeating pistol. revolver or rifle is the state of the art weapon fr most people. When our Constitution was written the flintlock muzzleloading pistol and rifle was the state of the art weapon people armed themselves with. Later cap and ball fire arms were the state of the art weapon.
What will be the state of the art tommorrow in personal weaponry? Whatever it is the Constitution acknowleges the pre-exsisting right (endowed by our creator) of individuals to be a armed with it and to use it for lawful purposes of self defense.
I can tell by your statements you are not well armed with the first weapon all people are born with.
As far as a right to abortion it never exsisted. The Supreme court ruling found that Jane Roe had a right to privacy which was violated by the Texas law against abortion. The relied on an earlier courts ruling on the privacy issue which could find no right to privacy writen within the text of the Constitution but stated the right to Privacy "Eminated from the Penumbraof the Constitution"....whatever that means.
Roe was a weak decision based on another weak decision. The only thing holding up this house of cards ruling is the politics behind it.
I am NOT a single Issue Conservative besides the issues of Guns & Judicial Activism I carefully look at candidates on many other issues including Taxes, Social Issues/Programs, Military Spending, Foriegn Affairs, Homeland Security and Immigration.
