Some Questions and Observations.
by Zeus-Boy

  1. Wasn't Bill Clinton America's first true Black President? So what's this big to-do over Obama?
  2. Was/Is Bill Clinton a sexist? Misogynist? Rapist? Or was all that just a right-wing conspiracy from the ditto-dunces to undermine his less-vaunted philogyny?
  3. For those of you who see sexism and misogyny everywhere are you willing to give Bill Clinton a pass simply because he's married to your candidate?
  4. What are Hillary's views of her husband's sexist, misogynistic and predatory attitudes towards women?
  5. Was the Clinton presidency empowering of women, or not? And what's Hillary's take on all that?
  6. If Hillary may be credited with Bill's accomplishments by association, especially as they relate to women, then can't she also be tainted by them by association?

Ultimately, as a voyeur from one of your more successful [and all white-meat] colonies, I believe it doesn't really matter which stooge you guys decide to install in your White House. The fact remains your foreign policy [aka, the Pax Americana] is still the only show in town and God Help us all if your economy tanks, not just because you will petulantly kick ass all the way to kingdom-come to put it to right again but because we'll all be rightly fucked in the oil stakes. That said, the global consensus is you Yanks can't be trusted at any bargaining table, so it doesn't matter what the rest of us proles think anyway? You will continue to do as you damn-well please, ie, using the planet as your manifest-destiny plaything. And why wouldn't you. "Bloody great race, the Americans."

O yeah, Happy St. Paddy's Day to all.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

Also, you're missed, dude.

"Worthwhile Canadian Initiative" held first place for quite some time. Nevertheless, you don't have ten, so let's see.

  1. He's the first black President. Carter's the first female President. Sort of a tussle. This is why the Edwards bid for being a female President didn't exactly take off.
  2. Bill did not have sex with that woman. Nor did he order his police to usher a young gummint employee into his hotel room and romantically suggest, "kiss it." That didn't happen;
  3. Stand by your man;
  4. Hillary will crawl over broken glass to win the Presidency. And then what? Hasn't thought that far;
  5. The Clinton Presidency enabled Madeleine Albright to dance in a pink pant-suit with Kim Jong-Il. If that counts;
  6. I'm just resigning at this point. You're entirely too cynical.

However, you are correct in pointing out that America is top dog, and will continue to kick ass.

Last question first
by biteoftheweek
Hilllary has been taking the blame for her husband's behavior for decades. Perhaps she should get some credit for his accomplishments.
Re: Last question first,

and last.

What his behavior and his accomplishments have in common is not only the man himself but Hillary also, which makes 'credit' and 'blame' indistinguishable, synonymous and interchangeable.

Sapper's Scores.
by Zeus-Boy

Fritz,

In the small town where I live [it was once a British Garrison town], if you look closely enough you can see very unsual markings in some of the older stones of the streets. They look like claw-prints from some strange raptor-like beast. I have since discovered that they are sapper's scores and that they signified triangulation reference points in an ordnance survey conducted by the Royal Corps of Engineers. These marks could pin-point any target in any street and allow the Brits to control the town from a designated location safely situated outside the town. What efficiency, I thought, and I wondered whether the US forces are that meticulous in Iraq. Have they mapped all the underground passageways in Baghdad, as the Brits once did?

Your "United Crates of Favela" brought it to mind.

He did brag
by biteoftheweek

about getting 2 for the price of one in his first campaign.

I wonder though, if those who hate Hillary for Bill's indiscretions also hate Eleanor for Franklin's?

I am never surprised when a man cheats on his wife. Never. And I have never met a (straight) man, married or single, that I couldn't get into bed if I wanted to.

Very discouraging, I have to say

I wouldn't worry, lad

about our economic hiccups. When we run out of money, we just make some more. It's that simple. But we do try to look out for buddies. Now why do think we're tryin' to send back twelve million Mexicans? Why, to make room for you and your cousins on that fookin' island, that's why.

You do know how to work a leaf-blower, don't ya? Aw, nevermind. For an Irishman, it's kind of like havin' a gas-powered asshole.

Heh heh heh -

Reminds me of the old one with the punchline:

Oh, by the way - that wasn't a Porsche - it was a Mercedes.

Re: Some Questions and Observations.
by Th Paine

If those are actually intended to be more than rhetorical questions, I might point out that question 4 already presumes that the answer to number two is "yes" and, while I think Bill's pattern of behaviour might raise some questions, the evidence I have seen is hardly sufficient to conclude that he is or was misogynistic or sexist. I think it safe to say that he is (or was) not strongly monogamous, however -- much like most of us would be given similar opportunities.

Interesting observations all around, however.

I disagree.

With your claim that "Hillary has been taking the blame for her husband's for decades"
I presume by that statement you mean his extramarital sexual conduct?

If she's been "blamed" for anything at all, it is her enabling of his conduct, going back to their years in Arkansas. It doesn't fit with her strong image as an independent feminist.

The Clintons most willingly presented themselves up to the voters, now the voters need all of the information about them possible, before they can make an informed decision. She is not a martyr as you seem to try to make her out to be.
ironic
by biteoftheweek

to read you blaming Hillary for his behavior while claiming she has not been blamed for his behavior.

What have you read about FDR that
by ellen__
I haven't? FDR did smoke cigars, but other than that .... are you claiming FDR conducted himself as Clinton has? JFK might be a more apt comparison.

Not surprised by your ignorance

Perhaps you should google Lucy Mercer
