Ferraro and Bill Clinton are no racists
by TOMTERRIFIC

It's amazing that two politicians with their records can be percieved as racists. I think anyone who wants to charge racism should follow a simple rule. Take the comments that these people made and take out african american or black and put in white, Jew, Irish, Italian, etc, etc. and tell me if it is still racist. If an Irish politician won a state or district that is predominantly Irish, and their opponent pointed out that it does not necessarily mean he is going to do as well in states or districts that do not have as high a percentage of Irish. Also pointing out that a previous Irish politician did well but it did not carry to states or districts with a more diverse population (aka Rev. Jesse Jackson). Translation; what Bill Clinton said was not racist, and it was not justified that some peopled labeled it such.

You can't tell me that it is just me and Saturday night live that have noticed how prefferentially Senator Obama has been treated. Senator Clinton can be responding to an attack by Senator Obamas camp and my local papers headline for the article about it says that "Clinton is on the attack". Though in the details of the article you learn it was a response. It just amazes me. The same papers editorial board has supported Clinton.

Even Clintons political supporters (other poliicians) find it necessary to complement Obama while arguing the case for Clinton. This would be nice if it was always done, but it strikes me that these politicians are just afraid that they'll insult their african american constituents. I've never seen anything like it between any two politicians. It is a one way street though, I haven't been hearing the politicans supporting Obama acting the same way toward Clinton. Now do these observations make me a racist also? I think not.

Obama has won the majority of states, the majority of delegates, and the majority of the popular vote. Blacks only make up 13% of the total population of this country, so it is pretty hard to attribute Obama's overwhelming success to a single demographic.

Bill Clinton's statement wasn't racist--it just wasn't the smartest thing to say. The problem with his statement was that he was insinuating that Obama was winning because of his race alone. This certainly may have helped him in states like South Carolina or Mississippi, but the same cannot be said for Wyoming or Vermont.

Ferraro, on the other hand, is an outright racist. She made similar comments in 1988 about Jesse Jackson and is now repeating them about Obama. She refuses to acknowledge that the success of a black man can be on account of anything other than race.

Neither of them went to a church that preached anti-white and anti-American rhetoric. Obama did so knowingly. He can denounce it all he likes, that is a telling point of this man's beliefs. This did not just happen years ago or months ago; it is what he is doing now. Rev. Wright was on his campaign team in December. He performed the service that married Obama to his wife and he had his children baptized in this church. He knew what it was about. He called this minister his friend and MENTOR. I am not worried about people who are NOT vying for the presidency, I am worried about a person who holds that kind of thoughts in his mind and IS campaigning for President of the USA.

Tom,

They may not be racists, but they sure are not above using racism to win nominations. They might as well flip Obama a quarter and tell him to get back to shining shoes and leave things like the presidency to white power brokers. They treat him like an uppity Step n Fetchit. See Billy Boy's comments post Obama's South Carolina win for one bit of evidence.

THEY have turned this nomination process into a fight amongst identities within the Party. THEY have fed on racist fears of others in their Party. THEY are saying that he has nothing but his color to appeal to voters. (That was Ferraro's basic comment.)

Their cynicism knows no bounds. They are playing with real fire here. That they are not only risking throwing the whole election to the Republicans, but also risking undoing the entire Democratic Party for a couple of generations. They would throw away all the support of this sudden, finally real boom in support and interest by young people and black Americans just to win.

But if it helps them to power, they're just fine with that. If it means running an imploded, splintered Democratic Party, they're fine with that. As long as they win.

Ok, regardless, Ferraro has shown that she is *entirely* out of touch with the race, with politics, and with the immediate corollaries of her statements.

Corollary 1: Blacks are loyal democrats so we don't have to treat them like real constituents. If I were African-American, I would seriously consider Republican candidates (honestly, though, I think all Americans should generally vote mixed tickets)

Corollary 2: Hillary is only in the race because of her gender.

Is Ferraro trying to get McCain elected? Or is she just THAT stupid?

You are not the only one that has noticed the bias. I have emailed Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, Larry King, and many others and been angry about it. It is reverse racism if they want an arguement. Hillary and Bill are better persons than I would be in their shoes. I would have made a party change in a press conference after all they have done for the black community for over 35 yrs and with sincerety of heart and be treated like they have been treated. Black super delegates have changed their allegence on Hillary that should tell their own constiuents they can't be trusted and get them out of office ASAP. At least Whoopi Goldberg was honest on The View and kept her word on a situation that determined her vote and she was open about it when it probably didn't go well with some people of her race in show biz but she sure got my vote anytime she needs if needed.

I did see a huge change in FOX news with Sean Hannity one day after a lenghty email and I challenged him to research what I had already research and then tell me and others why they are giving Obama an easy road that no politician has ever known. I ask him if he and Fox are afraid that we will see riots of the '60s' come back. Since then Obama has not reaped the kid glove or gloves off attitude but, CNN will not touch Obama but they are giving Hillary hades. It is not right.. Candy Crowley has misquoted Bill and created the racist news from they beginning when he never said what she said he said. Even O'Rielly has said Hillary is not being treated fairly. I quit CNN and listen to FOX now because they are the ones that are "keeping them honest".

No, they're not racists. They are worse. They are people willing to stoke the racism of other people to garner a marginal political advantage. They know that racism is wrong, but choose, freely choose, to court it so they can get votes for their team.

That's pretty much the definition of evil, I think.

Obama has won and keeps presenting this false arguement. If you study you learn that Repubs have voted in for him in states that they can cross over in solely to make sure they don't run against him in Nov. They voted for him in primaries knowing full well they will never vote for him in Nov. The Repubs. and the media know they can present the polls as they see fit to achieve their agenda. Give me a break, The News media is owned by some of the wealthiest in the land and they want to keep those tax breaks and get richer. They don't want McCain to face Hillary because he can't beat her but they are playing mind games and propaganda with the voter making you think that Obama is the most electable. Even Senators and super delegates have bought into this lie. They know they will keep all their tax breaks and wealth as long as Obama runs against McCain. Obama has not won the popluar votes in the states where there is no cross over. The democratic power states have went to Hillary in majority if yu do the math right. Look at Miss. they have a history of republican and will remain so come Nov. Just wait and see. Obama's bragging rights needs more solid foundation and just don't see it but we will come Nov. if he is on the ticket. I hope it is Hillary myself. I am just liberal enough to vote for Obama.
I am interested to see the proof of this

In both Ohio and Texas, Republicans came out and voted for Hillary Clinton. In fact, Rush Limbaugh even urged his listeners in Texas to vote for Clinton.

I did a quick check, of the 23 states that Obama has won, 11 had open primaries. I would be very interested to see the exit poll data showing that Republicans voted in these 11 primaries heavily skewed towards Obama.
