Ferraro
by everybodyhasone

I think it way past time of looking at the color of ones skin or ones gender and look to the inside and how they view and respect our country and the people they are asking to vote for them to lead our country. I do not see racism in Clinton or Ferraro. However, I think we need to take a closer look a Obama and ask if he is racist.

I went to the United Church of Christ in Chicago web site (Mr. Obama's church) and l was disappointed to see their church doctrine has much more to do with politics and there alligance to Africa and less to do with a relationship with God. Don't get me wrong I think churches need to be involved with their communities and their needs; however, it also needs to encourage the unity of all people. Regardless of our race, nationality, religion or financial standing our leaders must have compassion and the best interest for all people and their alligance needs to be to the United States of America and ALL the people who live, work and love here.

Mr. Obama may not be racist but based on some of his associations I think it is a thought that needs some consideration.

Your post demonstrates that you have no notion of what it means to be black in America, and little historical context for your remarks. Religion in an African American perspective has tons more to do with community, support and group values than it does with "faith." It's been a defining feature of black churches since the civil rights era that they empower their congregations with a sense of community; aka, "brothers and sisters" because blacks were marginilized for so long in American churches.

And if you're so quick to call Obama racist because he belongs to a particular church, how bout looking up the megachurches that brag a white majority that routinely denounce homosexuals or Mormons? Are they preaching "unity?" Are they preaching at all, like Obama's church, that you need to have a sense of community and where you came from? (AKA Africa.) Or would you call a Lutheran church in Wisconsin with a majority of Norweigan descandants that took an interest in Norway as racist or bigoted?

We should also look at how the dominant Christian religion in this country was used to explain and justify the enslavement of Africans and later African Americans. It is very easy to point fingers.

I have been to a lot of churches in my lifetime but I have never been to one who talked racist like I heard Rev. Wright does. Also, he talked anti-American when he states that the USA is responsible for the terrorists attacks on us. No one deserves to be attacked like that on 9/ll and have so many innocent people killed. What kind of church preaches anti-American and anti-white rhetoric? Obama has supported this church for over 20 years and he had Rev. Wright on his campaign committee as late as December. We have a right and obligation to question these kind of affiliations and you should not denounce anyone who does question them.
Re: Ferraro

That was wrong then and it would be wrong now. Are you saying that it is ok for Obama to be affiliated with a church who practices anti-white and anti-American beliefs? To go to a church like that for 20 years says a lot about Obama's beliefs with regard to whites.
