I'm sure that's not the case nor Coates' thesis, but every single one of his examples of racism comes from, well, a white person. I think Coates' point - that racism denied or marginalized is widespread and equally damaging as outright racism - might be more forceful if he included examples of such behavior from non-white races. The article instead comes of as "everyone is guilty of some racism, and they ought to admit it, if they are white."

To some theorists, yes.

Their view is, because white males descended from Europpeans have all the power in the US, only their racism can be damaging, and therefore only their racism exists. For all others, what appears racism is tolerable resentment.

There are many holes in the logic, but the idea is held.

I wouldn't worry to much about race-baiters like Coates. Her lack of logic makes her hardly worth mentioning. Slate only posts crap like this so they can seem "progressive."

Poor whites, black people and asians are the most racist of all Americans. All these groups are the most likely to lump people into categories by race and make derrogatory remarks. Admittedly the Asians are the most quiet about it but in a private conversation you'll hear all you need to know.
