Republicans are taking over the Democratic primary process
by samfaith

Why has there been so little attention paid to the problem of the "open" primary? I like Obama very much, but it is clear that he is leading in the delegate contest because Republicans and "independent" voters have been voting in the Democtatic Party primaries.

I have to admit that I once took advantage of the Republicans' open primary in Georgia to cast a vote for a candidate I was convinced could not win. My intent was to ensure a Democratic win in the general election. It is clear that large numbers of non-Democrats have been influencing the outcome of the Democratic primaries. Their intent is to ensure a Republican win in November by forcing the nomination of a non-viable candidate.

While I strongly believe it is essential to count every vote cast, I believe as strongly that the "open" primary system is a poison pill the Democratic Party has swallowed in the name of openness. The open primary concept must be reformed - it may already be too late this time.

So, it was okay when you did it, but now that your candidate is getting creamed it isn't okay. So hypocritical.

Everyone I have talked to has said they will vote for Obama over McCain, but McCain over Hillary.

I have not heard a single person say they will vote for Hillary but not Obama. My mother, normally almost a saint, just last night said Hillary doesn't even have to speak, just her face is enough to make my mom want to punch her.

The strategic republicans are now voting hillary to slow obama down. There may have been strategic republicans early on trying to stop hillary, but now she's a plaything. If the delegate gap closes too much the strategic republicans will give Obama more "love".

I think its really pathetic that you guys cannot even take responsibility for your own mess. Your headed to a possible contested convention and who are you blaming? The Republicans...........how freaking pathetic.

Numbnuts, I voted for Bush in 2004. I'm not a democrat. It's just a plain fact that republicans are indeed voting for democrats as spoilers. Deal with it.

With the Republican contest over, why would any Republican go to the polls, other than to influence the Democratic Contest. It is what it is. Stopping it is very difficult in my state, because you declare your party when you vote. They take your word for it. What would you suggest? Declaring party allegience for life? Photo Party ID? Tatoos of elelphants and donkeys on our foreheads?

There is one sure way to stop it during this election cycle? Hillary can do the right thing and drop out. She is the one Republicans want to face in November. They can't beat Obama. A Hillary ticket means a McCain win, walking away.

Your an idiot.

It's "you're", numbnut. If you're going to call people stupid, maybe you should brush up on your grammar.

And you did it twice in the same thread!

Once again, I think most of HRC's supporters underestimate Obama's LEGITIMATE crossover appeal. If Repubs turned out in favor of HRC in texas on Rush Limbaugh's orders, and she gets back in the white house, that fat bastard will have alot of explaining to do.

It's about on the same level of intelligence as anything else you've ever posted here.

Too bad you didn't detect the sheepishness/guilty conscience behind my admission. So pathetic.

Anyone who voted for Bush ever now has the government they deserve. Too bad we can't selectively conscript Bush voters for the war in Iraq, or place a tax on them to pay off the massive debt they voted to inflict on us.
