Do you even watch this show? This was established in the very first episode.

There were tons of allusions to the first episode last night highlighting the circularity and futility. Levy's brisket speach is similar to his griping to McNulty when he is called out on a Friday night to get D'Angelo out of the box. Bunk's speech of Kima about picking up the phone is nearly verbatim McNulty's and Bunk's conversation about "giving a fuck when it's not your turn to give a fuck." That body they are standing over in in the same courtyard that Gant was killed. There were several others.

When you obviously have no appreciation for this show and apparently haven't watched it all that much, maybe it isn't best to comment on it.

I have to think that they're being sarcastic, right? At least I hope so. Besides the previous references, it's hard to imagine that Plotz and Goldberg don't recognize Levy as a Jewish surname.

You're probably right, but who knows with these bozos. It is clearly, however, that the dialogue was just another shout-out to people who have watched this show from the beginning rather than "laying it on thick."

Avon mentioned his Jew lawyer at least 100 times during his run on the show too.

I think Goldberg was being facetious. He has mentioned before that he thinks the show comes close to falling into stereotyping with Levy.

Also, Goldberg is Jewish himself, and I don't think he was really in the dark about Levy's heritage this whole time.

Those two knew it all along about Levy being a Hebrew national, mos def', so --Hak mir nisht ken tshaynik!

I completely agree. And can we add that in Season One, Brianna makes a pretty unambiguous remark about "Avon's jew lawyer" so I am having a hard time grasping why Levy's jewishness is some sort of 11th hour surprise to them...
