Here is my latest slideshow of biblical Hebrew poetry (or more exactly, melopoesis). It features David's Elegy for Saul and Jonathan, aka "The Bow" (2 Samuel 1:19-27), with Hebrew text, Latinized transliteration and English translation.

The Hebrew word in the title of this post, ha-Miqra (המקרא), is different from the shalom (שלום) I've been using most commonly. The word ha-Miqra means the Hebrew Bible as recited, rather than as written. I thought the word would be most fitting.

Dunno about the Poetry forum, but on BOTF, for Valentines Day, Dawn Coyote had a poetry challenge, calling for suitable original compositions, and he left his droppings all over that thread with his usual crap about supposed errors of grammar and logic errors in these works --demonstrating his finely honed poetic ear and his usual charming personality.
