What about Randy?
by D. Macdonald
In the comment about how the stories of all the major characters have, for better or worse, been brought to a conclusion, one signal omission seems to be Randy, the young entrepreneur from the "school" season. The last we saw of him, he had been abandoned to the child welfare warehouse, to Carver's immense dismay. It would have been, if not necessarily nice, at least interesting to know what became of him; I found him to be one of the most appealing characters on the show, and the young man who played him quite talented.

We saw Randy in episode 7 or 8 this season, when Bunk was following up on the bodies in the vacants. Randy was a witness in season 4, as you no doubt recall.

Randy was still in the group home, thugged out and buffed up. We last see him yelling about getting the cops away from him and pushing a little kid on the stairs in the group home. He won't be an entrepreneur, we're led to believe.

Yes, we did meet Randy this season, and it was one of the more poignant scenes. Living in a group home with the "snitch" label has turned Randy into what we might expect.

Had the season gone to 13 episodes, it would've been revealed that Cheese is Randy's father (they both have the last name Wagstaff). See <link>.
